RE: Chicago State new coach...
However, both Detroit Mercy (Jermaine Jackson) and Delaware State (Keith Johnson) have interim head coaches in place who appear to be slated to lead their respective programs through the 2018-19 season. Chicago State doesn't appear to be in nearly as good of shape as Detroit and Delaware; with virtually no coaching staff left in place and no 2018-19 recruiting class so to speak of currently. If not only for being in a basketball recruiting hot bed, the new Chicago State head coach (whomever that will be) will be hard pressed to suit up a roster to simply be competitive in the WAC this season.

They had about 4-5 men sit out last year, and still have some recruits that haven’t backed out. I still see an improved team from last year..

Hope you are right. I'd love to see the Cougars get above 300 in RPI next year.

Thanks, ProfScott. I know we’re losing Sims Jr, but he never played a very good team style basketball.. and if you look at some of the scores from when he sat out the team was actually more competitive. Assuming the guys they currently have stay there (which I honestly don’t know if anyone is transferring yet), then I do see a better team. Simmons, in my mind, is their biggest loss. He was a tough nosed player. James Farr and Matt Raidbard have still been out recruiting.. and those two have been at CSU since Dildy started so things should still be alright.

At this point, programs are having summer workouts. So who's conducting Chicago State's workouts? Probably the two coaches who were left over. It also really doesn't make sense to bring in a new coach now. They'd have to learn a different system from what they're doing now. Couple that with the amount of money they're able to pay, I think CSU probably decided to stay as is.

That’s pathetic. A true embarrassment to the WAC and college athletics

I’m pretty certain they’re not just going with Farr and Raidbard. Zorich likely just wants to make the right decision for the university, and not just rush into it. Honestly, everyone already believes they’ll finish last in the WAC anyways.. so why does it matter if a decision is made in June or beginning of August? Kids are still getting their workouts in. The recruiting class would’ve been a wash either way. I’d rather them make the right decision than rush into one to appease those who couldn’t care less about CSU.
