MyBB Potential 2018 Recruiting
So, looking through all the chatter, this is the list of top potential recruits. This is not counting any grad transfers. All Recruiting numbers are based on 24/7. Please feel free to add in new info.

2018
Tyler Harris - 5'9" - PG - 3* - Rank 128
Anfernee Simmons - 6'4" - SG - 5* - Rank 7
TJ Moss - 6'4" - SG - 3* - Rank 178
Valdir Manuel - 6'10" - PF - 3* - Rank 181
*Alex Lomax - 5'11" - SG - 3* - Rank 143
**James Wiseman - 6'11" - PF - 5* - Rank 1

* Already signed with Wichita State
**Possible re-classify from 2019 to 2018.

I didn't add in Shareef O'Neal. Other than a rumor on this board, I haven't heard any chatter about him to Memphis, but of course, I could be wrong.

Id be suprised to see TJ moss here. He left east, and had threatened to leave almost every year he was there. No way he and Alo play together IMO.

I would love Tyler Harris but I'm not sure he will want to play with Lomax

Anfernee Simons may be a possibility if he doesn't go to the G league

What makes you list Manuel?

I think Lomax comes here

We might be 50/50 on Wiseman.

RE: Potential 2018 Recruiting
If Lomax comes, he will likely have to sit out this next season (unless Marshall leaves Wichita State and is let out of his NLI), and depending on if the old BIG EAST rule is in place, he may have to sit out two (within conference transfers).

EDIT: If he decides to go prep school route next year, he definitely won't have to sit out another year. Either way though, with his NLI to Wichita, unless Marshall leaves, he will not suit up for the Tigers next season.

Basketball people around Memphis love Penny for the most part.

If Wichita tried to pull some tough guy stuff with Lomax they might not ever sniff another Memphis player.

It would ruin their name here.

Is Myreon Jones completely off our radar now? I know he decommitted, but are we still an option for him?

There are not different rules about a LOI if a coach leaves or if he does not.

I think the ncaa can grant a waiver if a coach leaves before a recruit even steps on campus and enrolls.

You are correct, the rule is not different - it is on the school to let him out. That being said, I don’t see there being any way (if Marshall is back) that they willingly let ALo out of his NLI, especially to sign with a conference school that you have to face twice a season for the next four seasons.

You say this as though it is a fact, which is complete nonsense. This isn't a case where some kid's posse is trying to take more money to go somewhere else or changing his mind on a whim. He LIVES with Penny.

I can say with NEAR certainty that Lomax will be a Tiger this upcoming season if he and Penny want him to be.

Wasn’t Wofford our competition to land Jones? I would think we can do better with that scholarship open

According to recruiting analysts and reporters, but not according to the real people in the know on this board.

April 11th-May 16 is the regular signing period. The next 3 weeks will be very telling.

Of course there is no rule about sitting 2 years.

He will sit a year - unless he's released. If the school releases, he's available immediately - with or without Marshall as coach. Chances are very good they would release.

One of the leading national recruiting experts labeled him as a potential "5 star talent." I don't think Jones is someone who is going to Wofford, but we will see how it plays out.

RE: Potential 2018 Recruiting
With Anfernee Simons now announcing he is going straight to NBA, I was just wondering to myself if Coach Penny would try to flip any commitments that haven't signed (besides the rumors here about Shaq's son). Someone had previously mentioned that his son Jayden was friends with Simons as his teammate at IMG. I wonder if Jayden is also close friends with Emmitt Williams, who is also from IMG Academy. He is a 6'7" forward who is also highly ranked that committed to LSU backed in Jan/Feb, but won't actually sign until the Spring.

Just a thought?

Didn’t he leave Team Penny mid season last year? If so, doubt he comes
