I think the A-10 is a little steep for the Retrievers to expect but I could see the CAA bringing UMBC and Fairfield into their fold.
The CAA would be a good step forward for UMBC but it already has Towson, which is located on Baltimore's northern border.

They also lost 83-39 to Albany this season.
UVa was +$5900 on the money line in the desert today.
Someone bet $800 on UMBC today and won $16K

On the other hand, someone in Vegas bet a 3-team parlay on Friday that they thought was a sure thing. They laid down $20,000 hoping to win $870. Of course one of the teams they picked to win was Virginia. Bye bye $20,000.

I wonder what the UMBC and UVa fan forums look like over the last 24 hours.

America East lost most of its southerly teams back in 2001, when Towson, Delaware, Drexel, and Hofstra (since dropped fb) left for the CAA, stranding UMBC as the southernmost outpost.
Surely UMBC wants a move to get away from a mostly New England conference, but the CAA wants mostly fb schools, the A10 is too much of a jump, and other possible moves would be down. Seems like an attendance increase could change its outlook though.

ACC should ask University of Maryland - Baltimore County to join, so the hole in the map will be filled.
