This is where many of the P5 talking heads have it totally wrong when they say people want to watch P5 teams in the NCAA Tournament over more-deserving teams like St. Mary's and Middle Tennessee.

The real reason most of us want to watch P5 teams in the NCAA Tournament at all is to watch them LOSE.

Just think, he was the head guy at Charlotte once upon a time. Oh what could have been.

Live look at the selection committee trying to make sure this doesn't happen again to a P5 conference member. 03-banghead

This young man was fun to watch. He ate those 4 and 5 star players on Virginia alive.

This is what you get UVA!!

I hope West Virginia losses to Marshall as well.

Wow what a win and a historic win! Congrats to the Retreivers. Makes that 30 point win by us a little sweeter over the team they just barely beat to get in the tournament... another example of NCAA power conference bias.

Congrats to Coach Odom and UMBC...... The Judy Rose legacy of stupidity continues to grow.....

Odom was very well liked while here but did not find much success. Then again when you are handed a turd, it is hard to polish it in the middle of the season. I will be pulling for UMBC for the rest of the tournament. The cool thing is that the 16 seed now gets the easier bracket that the 1 seed was supposed to receive. The Retrievers could win another game or two.

Blows my bracket to smithereens but I am glad that a 16 finally beat a 1. Hoping that the rest of the 1s lose now

I disagree. That Charlotte team he coached in the interim was pretty good.
Dorn, Woods, Henry, Thorne, Braxton, Clayton. There was no reason that didn't win 20, compete in the conference and NIT.
We lost seven games when we led with four minutes left, couldn't shoot free throws and couldn't get good looks late in games. To me that's coaching. I liked Odom, but he looked lost late in the game when he was at Charlotte.
I'm glad he's doing well, but not keeping him isn't something I'm blaming Judy for.

Awesome upset. Incidentally, they're in the American East, and Vermont (the team MTSU beat 91-64 in their first post-season tournament game) had the best record in the conference at 27-8 (15-1). UMBC finished 2nd in the conference at 25-10 (12-4). UMBC upset Vermont in the conference championship game 65-62 with a 3-pointer with less than a second remaining after losing to them 81-53 earlier in the season.
