New C-USA Media Rights Deal with CBS Sports
New media rights deals inked by CUSA and CBS Sports. Looks like some of the content will be sublicensed to Facebook. Wren Baker, North Texas' AD, tweeted this deal represents significantly more revenue for the conference.

They almost never do. The details will leak out eventually.

Im surprised ESPN-Plus wasnt part of the deal. I knda expected that they would ink something with CBS-Sports (probably for more money) and then they would monetize what was left by moving it to ESPN-Plus. EsPN-Plus would pay for the content because they knew the loyal fans of those 14 schools are going to pay $4.99 a month to follow their teams. Its really no different than paying the extra $10 bucks a month to get the "sports tier" so you can watch CBS-Sports (thats what I have to do).

I thought they would also go all in with ESPN like the MAC and Sunbelt. However, I'm glad they haven't.
CBSSN isn't bad, it's not as accessible but they is changing with a lot of the TV internet packages where they are now available and at a more affordable tier. They should be on the lowest one though to really up their exposure. Also, CBSSN focuses on the game at hand while ESPN talks about an upcoming P5 game while the game is going on. ( yada, yada, P5, yada, yada...oh wait there was a play on the G5 game...what happened...let's see the replay.....they just get to carried away of other things.)
Sounds like they will be getting a bit more $$ than before which is good. Also, looks like they are keeping with Stadium even more and will

They shot themselves in the foot. I would have traded free programing for exposure. You need to think long term. How are you gonna build a ratings resume for next negociations if you are hidden from national TV?

Hate to tell ya brother but your deal is just as crappy. The only difference is we're not excited about it.

Nah, our tv deal isn’t great, but it’s better than what we used to get and it’s better than what y’all are getting even if just slightly.

Accessibility plus the lack of ESPN's branding. It's like going to restaurant that has RC Cola instead of Coke.

CBSSN is not rated by Nielsen, so one cannot tell how many viewers actually watch.

Each individual network must pay Nielsen to be rated and CBS, Inc., the parent company does not pay for CBSSN to be rated.

You get a hell of a lot less money (about half per school) and your school pays for production. Meanwhile an unspecified number of games (think a lot or they'd have specified) will be behind the ESPN + paywall. Saying it's better may help you sleep at night, but it isn't better. The only thing you have better is ESPN + has your inventory that we currently have on the CUSAtv network which is a way better platform. But your actual TV deal is not good.

More money in this deal is a good thing but no espn exposure at all is certainly not good. The conference is still talking to espn so maybe they can get a few game on one of their platforms. Still have 10 FB games on BEIN this year and then renegotiate with them next year. All games not on one of these packages will be available on CUSAtv for a fee.
