What's up with the Falcons?

BGSU Men’s Basketball has had 3 players announce that they’ll transfer in the last 2 days: Rodrick Caldwell, Nelly Cummings & Derek Koch.

All 3 were young. All 3 had already seen significant minutes.

This is not a good sign right now.

WMU had 2 announce they were leaving in the past 2 days.

One was a bench guy, but the other averaged 10 points per game.

It seemed like BG was turning the corner this season. I wonder why they are bolting.

Without knowing more about them I'd say it could mean anything or nothing. EMU usually sees two transfers to GLIAC or other smaller schools each year. Then again, Bayley Steele's transfer hurt us this year, I won't lie.

EDIT: Wow, just looked at their minutes, Caldwell and Koch are not people you'd expect to transfer.

UB has had some big names leave, or forced to leave every year

2015: Evans
2016: Moss
2017: Bearden

I'm hoping that we buck the trend this season and keep the band together. Ikenna Smart had another year but he decided to graduate and move on.

I expected either Caldwell(So) or Cummings(Fr) but not both. Both saw diminishing minutes late in the year when Frye was moved to point. Caldwell was a 21 game starter and MVP in a pre conference tourny. Koch(Fr) was a complete surprise to me as a 28 game starter.

You have to start wondering, how many of these guys are 'leaving on their own.' ... And how many of these guys get the elbow out.

Whatever happened to coaches 'molding and developing' players from high school punks to collegiate young adults. Not saying all players are salvagable ... but all players aren't instant trash, either.

Some of these coaches and their staffs are pushing kids out not because they suddenly don't 'fit,' but because they lack the patience to 'mold and develop.'

They 'fit' when you recruited them.
