MyBB A New Era of AAC basketball
we have long said the aac has had 3 major problems

our top teams are down (uconn/memphis), and our bottom teams were just too bad (ecu/tulane/usf).and certain teams schedule horribly

tulane has already done their part
usf finished last year on a very respectable level. with their best player a freshmen
ecu is about to hire a new coach

uconn and memphis are hiring new coachs

scheduling is still in the air but was a point of priority in the the last aac meeting

not sure how it all works out but pieces are moving in all of our biggest areas of concern

With all the new coaches that means we’re still another 2-3 years off from being a legit top 5 conference, that’s assuming the new hires work out. As long as we’re able to put together at least 3 bids every year, we’ll remain in the discussion as a M7 conference.

AAC has averaged 3 bids a year since it's inception, so this should not be a problem.

Tulane was so overrated this year. They had one more conference win than ECU.

We were picked 9th and finished 9th. Had some very nice upsets and some terrible disappointments. Exactly what you expect out of a 9th place team.

Losing to ECU is the harbinger of doom for a Memphis coach.

I think UConn, Memphis, and Temple (not sure if Dunphy will get the axe) all have enough talent returning to be pretty good in year 1 for a new coach assuming he can keep too many guys from transferring out. And in the case of Memphis, if Penny comes in and lands a couple 4-star guys right away, they especially could be pretty good if he has a decent staff.

Look at what Ohio State did this year under Holtmann. That's the blueprint for UConn and Memphis if they can make the right hires.
