I wonder if Kermit will put his money where his mouth is and schedule good mid majors on the road?

I dunno. I hope we can keep one of our assistants, especially Ronnie Hamilton - he's been the big recruiter for us.

Good luck to Kermit at Ole Miss... he'll need it, that's a program with a lot of issues; but if anyone can win there, it's him. Hope he wants to continue the series between Ole Miss and MT.

RE: FWIW Kermit to Ole Miss
I wish Kermit the best, but I expect his tenure at Hotty Toddy won't be much different than his peers that have left over the years -- Darrin Horn (WK-to-SC), John Pelphrey (South Bama-to-Arkie), Dennis Felton (WK-to-UGA), Johnny Jones (NT-to-LSU), Tyndall (USM-to-ewetee)

I guess White from Tech is the exception right now. But White went to a semi-hoops school. All about the foosball in Mississippi.

Ole Miss is probably the worst hoops job in the $EC

Hamilton will be the first to go with Kermit to Ole Miss.

A new coach will want to bring in his own assistants.

If we want Hamilton or Case we could probably shovel out about as much as CKD was making.

We need a national search. A couple of assistants are going to be left out, unfortunately (Kerry Hammonds, Grensing, etc). That is the nature of the beast.

I think we will be surprised at the nice list of candidates. We are in a much, much better place now than when Kermit was hired.

Yeah, I was just thinking that. We should be able to get a high quality replacement without too much struggling.

what do you guys return / bring in next year (assuming the coaching change doesn't lead to transfers/decommitments).

Notable returners are:
Tyrik Dixon
Antwain Johnson
Donovan Sims
James Hawthorne
David Simmons
Karl Gamble

We also will have Antonio Greene, a JR sharpshooter guard who transferred from UT-RGV.

If so, he would be the exception.

Most coaches make it to these high paying jobs and seem to forget the past.

Need to give the ex-Georgia coach, Mark Fox, a good, long look. He's similar to Kermit in many ways.

It is really a shame in so many ways--but with good management his family and children will be set for life money wise.

This hire will be crucial. As we all know it is difficult to keep things rolling-EVEN IF- you hire the right person according to their resume.

He turned down Georgia, we're arguably a better job, but he could attract attention from jobs better than ours as well.

I'd imagine at just 50 years old, he'd view us as a springboard back to the truly big time, but for that to happen he'd have to take us further than Kermit did, so not a bad tradeoff I suppose.
