B2, cont'd:

Frazier plunked! Runners at 1st & 2nd, 2 outs.

Chandler lines a shoulder-high pitch down the RF line; pachinkos into and around the corner!! 2 runs score and Chandler scampers into 3rd.

Pitching change. (A RHP coming in ... looks like a soft-tosser, though.)

4-0, Rice ... 2 outs in B2.

B2, cont'd:

Cruz adjusts to the slow pitch speed and slaps the ball back through the box between the pitchers shoelaces as he hot-foot hops out of the way. RBI single.

There's your in-the-inning cycle, JP!!

5-0, Rice!

Cruz running. Ball is high ... he's out by plenty at 2nd. Grrr.

Comeaux F4. TCU centerfielder hurt trying to catch Proctor's triple to the warning track (one of those plays that would be an E8 in pro ball).

B3:

Comeaux's lunging opposite-field soft fly ball is caught by the 2B in shallow right-center.

Proctor smashes a ball to deep center. The CF just gets to it on a dead run back and to his left ... but the ball comes out of his glove as he falls in a heap just short of the wall. The RF has to retrieve the ball, and Proctor glides into 3rd. After a rehabilitation/recorygin delay, CF staying in the game.

Sarchet lofts a fly to deepish left near the line. Off-balance throw makes Proctor's tagup score easy.

6-0, Rice. 2 outs.

Two call strikes turn Collins' 3-1 count into an inning-ending K.

Conference games mean more to us than NC games. Let Garcia pitch another inning but I'd yank him after 5 so he can be the Sunday starter at Louisiana Tech (well he's probably the Sunday starter regardless).

B4:

Gneiting hits a 1-out bouncer off the 3rd baseman's glove for an infield single.

Did TCU ask for compensation by insisting that we try again to steal? The catcher's throw is way off line, to the 1B side ... but still in time to tag out Gneiting before he could even start to slide. WTH??

K ends the inning. Don't be coasting now, Owls!

6-0, Rice, after 4.

Yuge RPI boost if we can pull off the midweek upset against TCU's 5th or so pitcher. We need some quality wins anyways...if we happen to be in at large consideration a win against TCU will mean a lot more than a random CUSA game (although Latch could be a top CUSA team.

Let Garcia go for the no hitter.

Canterino-Jefferies-Amador is adequate for the weekend.

T5:

Garcia's dealing! Curve fools hitter. Wiff!!

Whew!! Hot shot to Sarchet at 1B, a bit away from the bag. It handcuffs him a little, Garcia covers alertly ... so Sarchet tosses it the few feet to the bag. Garcia drops it! But picks it up in time for the out.

Third out, just like the first!! Dealing!!

6-0, Rice ... heading to B5.
