Well yeah, it is sad that that many are happy with the dumpster fire, but pretty sad for the AD that 57% want to change course and that their fan base is so divided. Just all around sad.

I wouldn't say that those that want to stay the course are happy in CUSA. I'm sure that some are but they would probably make up a small subset of those that voted to stay. The bulk of the people that did vote for staying in CUSA see it for what it is: The best current home for ODU Athletics and a means to an end. It's akin to a starter home if you will. You have to get your mail and park your car someplace. CUSA is that place for us currently. The fanciful alternatives being bandied about range from nonstarters (A10 Sports/1-A Independence/CAA Football) to theories (made up Eastern US conference), to aspirational (AAC membership). I still personally think we will end up in a version of The American at some point in the next five to ten years.

Can confirm, 101 of the 103 votes are actual ODU fans.

So 2 non-ODU fans voted and there's 2 votes for all CAA.... interesting...

Only 1 of the 2 voted for the CAA. The other voted for CUSA/AAC.

Thanks for the insight, beermod 04-cheers

So should they go with the one where 19% of people voted or 20% instead of the 43%?

Pretty much this. There's no reason that a conference with a core of ODU, WKU, Middle Tennessee, Louisiana Tech, Southern Miss and Marshall, with a nod toward FAU/FIU football, Rice academics and Charlotte getting its **** together can't be a solid all-sports option. Anyone who wants the CAA would crap themselves blind when they see its almost literally non-existent TV presence. Sure, maybe if the CAA somehow could get VCU, Richmond, George Mason, Davidson and George Washington from the A-10 it's a viable option, but that sure as shoot ain't happening.

I said this in another thread and I'll repeat here: If ODU wants in the AAC at some point, this is undeniably the best launching pad for it. Pretty much everyone in today's AAC spent time in CUSA. How many schools have moved from the CAA to the AAC?

The AAC is set. No reason for them to expand and if they did, the better schools would be gone and the expansion wouldn't include us.

RE: Where would you rather be?
No chance we leave c-USA. Waste of time to think otherwise. Why leave now when cusa basketball improved significantly last year? And if we can’t win the conference in cusa what makes anyone think we would stand a chance in the A10. Best to stay the course and continue to gel and improve. Those calling for the CAA are living in the past.

What, like forever and ever amen? 10 years ago pretty much every conference not named the Ivy had a far different membership than they do today. Hell, the AAC was just the public schools of the Big East. Why are you so quick to act as though the rosters are set in stone? I'm not saying that ODU is a lock, or even a leading candidate for the AAC (though I think they'd at least get reasonable consideration). But let's not presume that their boat is off the horizon just yet.

I'm not sure that's very accurate. I was able to see lots of CAA sports content this past season via the CAA Conference affiliation with ROKU. It was actually pretty amazing to be able to tune into watch a CAA swim meet taking place at UNCW for example. It was somewhat akin to watching games on ESPN3 except that it was all CAA related and team specific as each team had its own link to select from. Off the top of my head I saw basketball, baseball, football, and swimming covered.

Just to be clear though ... I didn't vote to rejoin the CAA even though I could have seen more of ODU on TV last season if they were in the CAA.

Yeah, but I'm talking about linear TV. Their media deal only guaranteed the conference semifinals and finals on TV, along with a weekly football and basketball game on CBS Sports Digital. Plus, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, I think their deal is pay-for-production, so they don't get money from it.
