I buy a lot of outdoor....one year I was the largest outdoor buyer in Dallas with 172 full size 14 x 48 boards up in one month. So, let's try to figure this out.
1) If they are requesting avails now, they probably are going to start advertising in 2 to 3 months down the road. So that would put the start date around May or June.
2) That start date usually would equate to football season ticket sales. It could be for early basketball season ticket sales but...it seems more likely for football season ticket sales.
3) A lot has to do with the length of the campaign and budget. Does U of M want the boards for a year or for two months, or four or what number of months? If you know the length of the campaign, that helps in determining the campaign.
4) Location requests can sometimes be important and can usually be based on traffic counts and traffic flow and target audience location. So, knowing where the boards are wanted may help but then again, if they want general market coverage, we could not determine much. In fact location requests may not tell us much.
So, at this point...all we know is the U of M is going to be spending some money on outdoor probably to go up in about 2 or 3 months. If there is a VERY LARGE budget...it could be for multiple campaigns (Basketball and Football). If it is the usual budget and every year about that time the U of M promotes football season ticket sales....the avail request if for football. So budget and past history are very important. As you can see, we need more information.
