This has been discussed by the administration and top boosters but only time will tell.

If you think about it, this could work. Nobody says that Tubby in not good at X's and O's. He know the game. He just sucks at the admin and recruiting part. I think the fan base would be happy with a different staff that can get the players on the train. Penny could be the key to that. He would then have a real opportunity to learn from a seasoned coach. That would solve the "no experience" tag he keeps getting hung with. If it doesn't work out, his buyout will be less next year.

Once again, the planets align and we find out the fate of Tiger athletics on a Tuesday...

My prediction:
Tubby is offered the opportunity to keep his job but he is being put on a PIP.
Conditions:
He must improve his PR responsibilities for the university. He IS responsible for putting butts in the seats at FEF.
He must shake up his staff, and improve the recruiting results.

And with all the smoke, I would still be satisfied if Penny was hired as a full time assistant coach, although I realize that is unlikely and un satisfying.

Tubby thinks/feels he is doing just fine, par for the course. He's doing things HIS way, so the admin approaching him regarding necessary changes (based upon figures that they have) are more than likely gone do be deflected or repudiated by "The Tubb" and he can politely be given the boot "just cause" at least the powers tat be would have saved face by offering a contingency plan.....

You guys really think, after Tubby's lawyer spoke out about how Penny was preventing recruits from coming to Memphis, that they are going to work out a deal with Tubby and Penny?

This probably has more to do with "we're going to pay you this much to leave. Anything more, and we'll fight it and you can run up a few million in attorneys fees trying to get it."
