California goes far left.
Kotkin may get himself exiled with this one. The libertarian leaning Democrat bemoans the purge of merely liberal Democrats like Diane Feinstein.

I had a good laugh when I read this:

“For the Democrats, this vacuum allows for a kind of internecine struggle resembling that of the Bolsheviks after the death of Lenin.”

We have to be careful here because California doesn't really want to secede, it wants conquer the rest of the nation. And the farther left it goes, probably so does the nation in the end.

lol, yep, my thought as well. Only way California could go any further left is if the San Andreas fault ruptures and part of the state drifts off into the Pacific.......

FWIW - Let's also not forget that as of 2015, California had like the 6th largest economy of any state/nation on the planet. Certainly top 10 still.

I could live with that. They're already more Mexican than NEW Mexico. If they love their illegal Mexicans so much that they protect them than they can keep them. So I say...

DO IT!

Won't happen. If it did there would be a mass exodus of the large corporations out of California.

If California does go further left and is taken over by environmental moonbats, the consequences of this could be very far reaching. CARB already has a giant impact on manufacturing world wide. If you don't meet CARB standards?...You cant sell your product in California. God help us if they come up with more of this nonsense.

Great, get those tech companies out of the alt-left echo chamber of commiefornia and to Denver, Phoenix, Houston, and Austin, and a lot of the censorship issues will sort themselves out.

IIRC it wasn't long ago it was once #4 on that 'list'.....

just wait a little longer.....when silicon valley eventually relocates, it will basically become a sanctuary hell.....take that out of the equation, and it drops somewhere in the 30's....

the writing is on the wall....it's only the 'when' that is in question.....now that tech is ubiquitous, like Moore's law that would eventually succumb to diminishing, their day is coming in the not-to-distant future....

their greed and processes are slowly digging their own grave....

and to LS' point, 'not this time does the rest go as Cali does'....the internutz has solved that problem...

once the 'cali exodus' takes full effect, they'll only wonder why they're screwed with red tears flowing....

I too think it’s only a matter of time. As of now you’ve got large industry in basically 4 areas.

Silicon Valley, film/teevee/entertainment, agriculture and Govt including the US Military. Toss in some waning tourism too, I guess.

Then you’ve got a horrific underclass. Gangs, crime, drugs, homeless, etc.

Middle class is fleeing as quickly as they can fuel up and find a map to Texas, Nevada or Colorado, Arizona.

Soon enough it’ll be the liberal utopia of the monied elites and those that serve them. Just what the left has dreamed of for decades...

Sad.

What about if we give them CA, and we take the Baja peninsula and populate it with conservative Texans?
