MHJ leaving would not be a difference maker on this team. The primary wings are going to be Stith/Green with Godwin/Wade/MHJ (if he stays) behind them. The impact on him leaving would be long term. (if any)

There is not reason this team cant compete for the title or be top 3, at worst. They will have 3 potential all conference players (assuming they return and are healthy).

No set rule. There is one guy I'm waiting to hear back on that could possibly be a game changer. Not the greatest fit, IMO, but would add a ton of talent.

Nobody said he would be the difference maker. I said I don't know what the roster is going to look like. Grad transfer? Overseas recruit? Late freshman sign? Porter leaves? MHJ leaves? Nobody knows exactly what this roster looks like, but everyone knows the weakness will be at the 4.

I think it is interesting that you say MHJ leaving would not be much of a difference for the team, then you pencil in Wade ahead of MHJ (if he stays). Sooooo, last year at this time MHJ was going to be the big deal coming in, and now he's fairly insignificant, with Wade evidently being the new big deal? What happens if Wade doesn't get any more playing time next season than MHJ did? Can you say with certainty that won't happen? Is Jones still the coach?

When did I pencil in Wade over MHJ?

I never said MHJ was going to be a big deal as a freshman. In my words, I called him a good recruit, but we would rely on Caver/Stith/Haynes with Green/Godwin/MHJ as possibly role players....which ended up being Green.

Furthermore, I've never called Wade the new big deal nor have I have ever said he was going to even play next year. As a matter of fact, I said that I believed it would be best if he redshirted.

I think we all learned a valuable lesson about overhyping highly regarded freshmen. Those guys can shoot. But the fact is they didn't see the floor with the likes of BJ and Randy ahead of them. Why would Wade see time when he is a similar situation with Caver and Justice/Green ahead of him?

I'm hoping to see a significant improvement in Green's production and consistency next year. He showed flashes this year. Now I want to see if on a regular basis. I think we will.

It would also be nice to see some improvement in his body language.

Green is going to be a beast if he has the work ethic. Look at him and look at Baze his freshman year. Very similar size, build, and raw athleticism. Green is much further along in basketball at this point, but Baze made a big jump every year.

I would be thrilled with Baze-like improvement! He wouldn't even have to be as good as Baze, just stay on the same improve-each-year trajectory.

I have a feeling we will see improvement similar to that of Haynes next year from Green. If not, we might have a problem on the perimeter.

Comparing others to Baze is not reasonable. He was a freak when it came to improvement from year to year. You cannot assign that expectation to anyone else.

At this point in their respective careers, the biggest difference in their play on the court to me is that Kent exuded confidence even as a freshman. He wasn't always successful, but he played instinctively and was seldom hesitant.

I'm comparing their size, build, and raw athletic talent. Not many have the work ethic Baze had. If Xavier does, nothing is stopping him. Someone mentioned confidence and yes, that could be an issue. In November he had it and we saw some of what he could do. I don't think he can endure another year of being torn down and built back up. I hope that isn't the plan.

It is what it is. If the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit. And if raising money for a 28-30k waterfront stadium for 3 years and then raising money for the 25k seat "football stadium version of the Ted" for another 3 years isn't stealing money, what would you call it? Neither product is being delivered.

You are grasping at straws. When did ODU ever say "donate so we can build our waterfront stadium?"

they didn't have to
They just put out a video advertising over the water for the stadium
Leaving things open for interpretation, where did they think peoples minds would go? Guess they didn't consider that right? right.......

Much like the rest of this crap, nothing in stone, interpret how you like, when it finally comes out everyone will be disappointed because they are forming their own expectations in their heads based on the damned images that we were presented that looked GREAT, pretty sure we've seen multiple rendering from multiple places and the last we've heard is that woody was down there at FAU looking at their stadium (when he should have been meeting with their AD on the topic of finding a real fbs football coach) ... But what do you know, their stadium makes no difference, the man at the face of program generated the excitement, the product on the field generated the excitement, what were they before when they sucked inside of a nice stadium? Crap. Like we are now. A stadium is not going to change that anyways. now Im just ranting

He needs to be on the phone with the governor of Virginia, from Norfolk, to ensure the political pressure is put on the VCU, Richmond, and George Mason leadership to put the screws to the A10, headquartered in Newport News, and their conference mates to get us (and himself) bailed out of this disaster. He is not a very savvy little man, but he sure is slippery.

I don't think it was just work ethic for Baze. I have never seen anything like it. I truly believe he had a gift for learning athletic skills. It was amazing.

When people put that, it is a grouping of players together not any knd of order.

Green is going to be a much better player than Haynes,, IMO. Maybe not next year, but long term.
