dude...<pulls CB aside>

Don't post this stuff from your Mo.Valley days. It's like a freshman in college walking around campus in his High School Letterman's jacket.

Im trying to help ya man, but ya gotta work with me...
Dang I must be coming down with something. I actually agree with BC1 on something for once. It just feels I don't know awful? Its such a strange feeling. This must what feels like to be BC1. I am lost! Help...!

I hope CB isn't one of the shocktop fans still going on crying about Rob Gray. CB writes some pretty outlandish stuff, but some of it is really entertaining and I've never seen him be a crybaby about their losses.

The others could take a lesson.

04-cheers

I hope Rob doesn't cry in the next week.

Well same here, because I hope shocktop does well in the Dance. It's good for the conference, and we're all in this together ultimately.

So pull out your pacifier and suck on it for a while, let last night go, and then go get us a win for the conference in the Dance.

Or not, your choice.

Summary:
The regular season doesn’t count for Wichita because.
The conference tournament doesn’t count for Wichita because.
The NCAA, that’s where Wichita will show the American something.

I've got nothing against Man Buns - he's a fighter and a winner - perhaps a slightly trashier version of Fred VanVleet. Both are cut from the same cloth. As far as shhshing the crowd... Frankamp does it too during games after dagger three's.

Sure there were some iffy calls but we were never going to win that game with Shaq sitting over half the game on the bench. Had Shaq played normal minutes we win by double digits like I predicted. I think coach was saving him for the real tournament. Or maybe he was hurt (I hope not).

I'm assuming it was a big long post about how the shockers dominate March.

Awesome, good luck to the shockers, and all the AAC post season teams. Win us some money. Earn us our deserved respect as a conference.

Tulsa is going to get it's s-t together and be there fighting with you next year.

If you didn't read it, then why did you care enough to click on the topic?

This sort of post only adds evidence for that restraining order.

Because Co|d unlike some wichita posters can be amusing. That was too long for a tidbit here or there though. I got the gist from the length alone.

I realize you're hurt, even wounded over the fall of the mighty shockers. It'll get better.

The fall of the mighty Shockers?

What does that mean? Are you saying WSU is going to the CBI?

From the way some fans of Wichita are acting you would think so.

I think it's just the valley hang over where every loss could kill you.

BC#1 was nice enough to council CB, maybe he can help you too? Just lay down on old BC#1's couch and talk about how the bad ol bully Coogs picked on your play angry team.

A few sessions and you'll be ready to join the entourage of cool kids. Then you can really make fun of Creighton.

We don't need help making fun of Creighton. The majority of their school's memories were made in the MVC conference tournament. Every year they followed their Super Bowl in St. Louis with a One-N-Done in the NCAA's. It's really more sad than it is funny.

That being said... Tulsa would be looking wayyyy up at Creighton with respect to NCAA tournament success over the past 10 years. Now THAT'S funny! 03-lmfao

i dont think wsu fans should downplay their team because of the losses.

before the season began this was billed and accepted as WSU's greatest team as they had all of their starters coming back .
nothing has changed.

this is also considered Cincinnati's greatest team of the last few decades.

TL/DR

Is Cold talking about baseball season already?

Because I think ECU already has that one claimed as their "real season."

(03-11-2018 01:49 PM)C0|db|00ded Wrote:  The Mighty Shockers reinvigorated their national reputation by going 10 and 5 in the NCAA Tournament since 2012. During that stretch the Shockers have 10 wins: 1 Final Four, 1 Elite Eight, and 2 Sweet Sixteens. They've done all this with an average seed of 7.17...

The Shockers first season in the AAC could be considered a success by some measurements having missed a conference championship by one bucket. They settled for second place and a disappointing early exit in a mostly meaningless conference tournament. They did all this with a team built on players recruited while a member of the Missouri Valley Conference reaching a high of #3 in the national polls.

Shocker fans know they have a few chinks in the armor having witnessed several games this year where they played uncharacteristically weak. The most recent being the final conference tournament game against Houston. In that game they played horrendous for nearly 30 minutes struggling to shoot better than 20% from the field (some of this was obviously due to Houston's brand of foul-a-thon defense, but not all). The ending was close only because the Shocker offense started to awaken for the final 10 minutes of the game.

Shocker fans should remember that their Final Four run came after regular season losses to: Tennessee, Evansville (2x - regular season sweep), Northern Iowa, Southern Illinois, and Creighton (2x - once in conf. tournament). We finished 2nd in the Valley with a 12-6 record, one loss from 3rd place. It was a disappointing season from a Shocker perspective having lost both the regular season and conference title to the BJ's. We left Arch Madness with our heads hung low and unranked.

In case AAC fans are wondering what a real conference tournament should sound and look like, here's the conference tournament championship game highlight reel between BJ and Wichita State from a BJ's perspective (they won) at a packed Scotttrade Center in St. Louis.

Pretty electric for the lowly MoValley no?

Fast-forward to Selection Sunday and the Shockers are on pins and needles waiting to hear their name called. The Shockers were given the dreaded 9 seed. Oh well we thought, we're just happy to be in it after going 5-5 to wrap up the regular season. What unfolded next shocked the world as well as Wichita, Kansas.

The MVC regular season and conference tournament champion BJ's beat Cincinnati in the first round and then got blown out by Duke. Slumping Wichita State on the other hand...

Gregg Marshall admits his offensive schemes are best suited for the NCAA Tournament as they are difficult to prepare for in that format. Any advantage the system holds in conference play, where teams have much longer to prepare and get multiple chances at you, greatly diminishes.

Gregg Marshall has proclaimed his disdain for conference tournaments since arriving at WSU. It is no secret that a Shocker team will never give its best effort in a conference tournament while Gregg Marshall is the head coach. We give 105% in the regular season and 110% in the Dance. I'd say conference tournaments get around 90%. How else would you explain 1st Team All-Conference Shaq Morris only playing 19 minutes when he was integral to us winning the game? He had 2 fouls and didn't get back on the floor until around the final 10 minutes of the second half... about the exact same time our performance changed trajectories.

So the real season has begun for the Shockers. The playbook is opened wide and every ounce of the Shocker's soul will be left on that court. Will the AAC "grind" better prepare the Shockers for the tournament? I don't know, but I doubt it. I have never seen the Shockers under Gregg Marshall give anything less than a One Shining Moment type performance in the Dance. Everybody seems to always find "another level". An argument can be made that a grueling conference season can actually hinder a team. Who knows the answer. We'll let this year's Shocker performance in the NCAA tournament speak for itself.

We're fairly injury-free, have a slight chip on our shoulder after Saturday, have several players who are looking to break out of slumps, and we'll likely be facing teams that have never seen us before. Our defense is suspect, but defense comes with effort. Our offense has never been this potent (with Shaq on the floor). I like our chances.

No Kentucky please.

Game On!

Hardly. Cincy has been in the Top 5 in the polls so many times in the last three decades that I can't even count them. If UC gets to the final Four, then it would be our deepest run in the the NCAA tournament since the 90's, when UC had one Final Four and two Elite 8's. our best team was probably during Kenyon Martin's senior season when UC was ranked #1 most of the season until Martin, the National Player of the Year, broke his leg in the conference tournament. Someone with more access to historical records can provide more texture but UC has been good for a very long time. You don't go to 32 NCAA tournies and now 8 in a row and not have some serious basketball history.

Im going off of pre-season discussion. There was a thread awhile back where between Cincy fans about how great this team is as some couldn't agree on how far back. So I'll let you and your own fans talk that out.

I'd be shocked if uc fans made a claim as bold as yours before the season. Many of us believed 2002 was the last bearcat team at this level. Before 2002 there was a bearcat team at this level every couple years. This team has been exactly what i hoped all year. Now i hope it pays off in a tournament run.
