Market value for a guy w/ zero D1 coaching experience is far less than what Penny will be offered regardless. And how he divies up the total coaching budget will depend on his goals. Norvell has given up personal salary for assistant budget in both of his contract negotiations.

Cal may have bemoaned having to sell the program to the city, but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t incredibly effective at drumming up support.

And if we return the core of this year's team, which was solid but not great at all...how much must he improve on that if he gets a couple four star or five star kids?
