MyBB Tiger Basketball Sagarin Ratings since 1999-2000
Data to ponder...Sagarin ratings for the past 19 years (as far back as I could find). As you know, such rating vary from one to another and I only picked Sagarin because it was readily available, not because it proved a certain point where another did not. But, I have always considered it a fair indicator because it does factor in margin of victory and does not have some of the flaws inherent in RPI-type calculations.

1999-2000 105 (Jones)
2000-01 51 (Cal)
2001-02 33
2002-03 26
2003-04 30
2004-05 57
2005-06 4
2006-07 7
2007-08 2
2008-09 9
2009-10 59 (Pastner)
2010-11 71
2011-12 18
2012-13 34
2013-14 35
2014-15 90
2015-16 75
2016-17 85 (Smith)
2017-18 131

You can certainly argue condition of the program when a coach took over and other factors, but this is one very objective measure of the strength of each team over the years.

It’s simply a financial decision that had to be made. The business is losing money at deteriorating rate and it was best to cut ties now than to wait another year or two of it getting worse with very little signs of turnaround

Yep. That same team playing in 2018 gets seeded higher.

Also, consider that the apparent decision may have been made B4 Myreon Jones committed recently. I dont know whether it’d change the calculation, but a couple of weeks ago, CTS only had a single, 300+ recruit (although an intriguing one).
