Ya'll see what Harry just re-tweeted?

https://www.commercialappeal.com/story/s...416454002/

"Attendance at home games fell to a 48-year low this year. As a result, the athletic department could miss out on an $800,000 payment from the Memphis Grizzlies as part of the school’s lease at FedExForum.

Donations to the athletic department also fell by $1.1 million during the 2016-17 fiscal year thanks in large part to a drop in men’s basketball season ticket sales."

Buying Coach Cal was Memphis basketball's greatest move. Not buying his replacements is what led them to the schitter. They got to big too fast to be mediocre or hire a coach on the cheap to manage the decline.

Edit: Memphis is paying Tubby Smith $3M per year?!? Who the heck in that AD thought that was a good idea? He hasn't won anything since his early days at Kentucky. I guess they did buy the replacement. Might as well have put the money in a firepit!

No surprise, they're spending like a low level power 5 school;

I strongly suggest we look at the man at the top. Wood Selig earns a pretty good salary for a poor performance across the board.

I only follow a few ODU sports.
Baseball, wrestling, football, and basketball and I would like to see more excitement and postseason play as a whole across the athletic department.

I'm disappointed in our current baseball season. Wrestling I have a lot of respect and love for the man at the helm of the program but feel the buzz has worn off. My personal opinion is I would love to see him return to the high school ranks.

We talked in one of the threads about the broken system. Here's an article that gets to the root of it. It's all about revenue disparity. This is exactly why the P5 will do everything in its power to keep out the mids.

You must not pay that much attention to baseball. We graduated 9 seniors last year. A drop off should be expected.

You could also make cases for him doing a good job. Baseball has been successful. They graduated football from FCS to FBS, which is a massive win. Basketball hasn't been where it needs to be, but is still making money.

EHH not really. Baseball is different. Freshman can come in and produce right away. Losing seniors is not a huge deal. Finwood was really fortunate to get Rutherford. He wanted to stay close to home and he was a game changing recruit for ODU baseball. Losing his play and leadership was huge. Finwood's problem has always been getting the right arms into the program. Pitching has been a disaster but they have a kid coming in from Granby next year that should be a starter right away...unless he gets drafted.

Edit: ERA near 5 over the last 4 seasons, is not getting it done.

My resentment towards Wood is we're spending more but have less to show for. Higher budget than conference foes and only 2 CUSA championships and the displeasure of hyping and stringing us along with this stadium fiasco over the years.

I don't know if it all falls on Wood, but someone clearly dropped the ball on the stadium. It's interesting that Bobby Wilder expects all of the construction to take place between November 2018 and September 2019, and yet no plans have been released to the public.

If they have to hide the plans, they can't be good.

Then let's watch everyone piss their pants when ODU loses to Albany by 44 like UMBC did six weeks ago.

But the dude is definitely going to cash out this year, just like Andy Enfield.

Agreed, expect the "bait & switch" any day now. No way they tear down and build in one year. Simply put, can't be done.
