You’re the first person I have ever heard say Stith isn’t a people’s person. Have you even met the guy?

He has intrigued me too. I think I would have liked him better when we hired JJ than now though, because I think he'll need some time to adjust and we should be in more of an elevate stage now with a quicker turnaround whereas we were in a rebuilding situation before.

With the timing, I think you're right. We need a NOW coach.

I'm with you on this one. I have had the pleasure of talking with Bryant and he is very polite, friendly, and personable.

I've never spoken with Coach Stith, but I know people who do know him, and every one of them says he's a great guy and class act.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say Spantheman means not a people person like BT was. BT was a glad hander, outgoing and full of smuuuze. Stith not so much. A little quiet, low key guy.

You guys are talking like we are actually going to hire a new HC. Not tomorrow, not next year, not for along while. Come back to reality.

How about a new AD and an overall change of course? Jones stays. Compromise?

The need for something to change with the program is part of the reality that you speak of everyone coming back to, and why someone has created the topic of this thread ... "I am a solutions kind of guy .... ".

Hey I'm not saying I don't want change. I'm just keeping it real.

That's part of the problem. We are letting an unqualified know nothing (selig) dictate our reality. Jones has been exactly what most of us though he would be, not bad, not good enough to accomplish anything noteworthy and the rest of his hires have been disappointing to awful (finwood being maybe the only exception).
It's time for a ground up rebuild of the athletic program. Wood has accomplished nothing other than total fan apathy in both major sports.

We are not "letting" anything happen. I don't remember having a vote on Selig's hire. I'm sure none of you do either. I think a lot of these ideas for a changing of the guard are great. Tell me which one of us is gonna make it happen.

Since we're thinking positive--although our non-conference schedule was worse than dirt-and aside from the WKU and Middle Tenn the conference is pathetically worse than dirt, there are some things we should feel good about. We lost to only 2 teams in the country since December 6--that's a 3 month period. Show me other teams outside the top 5 who did that. Our defense, although not a sexy stat, has been outstanding. Our assist/turnover ratio is among the best in the country. We have some excellent players returning--especially Ahmad, Trey, and BJ. Our little-used reserves, if they stick with the program (not sure why they should) have great potential. The biggest problem is scheduling. We need to drop the Norfolk States, Howard, Fairfields, and this of this ilk. Whether we like it or not we need to suck it up and BEG top schools to play us, even at their place. This crappy strategy of playing the weakest opponents at our place or theirs has gotten us nowhere and if Wood and JJ don't realize it then they are worse than stupid. Play teams that fans care about--I'd rather watch us lose to Virginia at Virginia or at Kentucky to Kentucky than see us beat East Carolina at home. It's time we stepped up--W&M, JMU, Richmond won't cut it--those teams don't help us in any way.

Just to be clear: you would rather see ODU lose games than win them? That would certainly excite the alumni base.

You must not have noted that Alabama LOST 15 games and made the tourney ot that Texas Lost 13 or the numerous double-digit losses by tournament teams. You get Fred for Playing a demanding schedule, win or lose. The single digit losses bu ODU, Middle Tenn, and St Mary’s really paid off. Yea, the fan base will be greatly excited to see if we can compete with the best rather than the least. Which games were u excited about this season?
