Watching this game today put things into better perspective for me. At half time, I was so excited to come on here and read about everybody's excitement... I was honestly shocked(even though i probably shouldn't) to be reading the anti-tubby sentiment and the "welcome Penny" fan club posting the same crap during a conference semifinal against a longtime rival.
What is that "FANS?" Can you not just be a Tiger fan? This team has gone above and beyond my own expectations and most of yours. Do you not remember the past 8 years? Do you not remember what Josh Pastner did to this program? And then you want to fire a HOF coach(that doesn't cheat) at the beginning of his second season coaching... he inherited a dumpster fire of a program when he took over! Tubby may not be the best fit for the program but at least treat the man with respect. The toxicity of our fanbase is beyond embarrassing! I get it, you want Dana Kirk and Cal back.... just fyi it's much easier to win when you are a cheater like those two. I remain agnostic on who the future coach of our program is... If it's Tubby, I will support him and the players. If it's Penny, I will support him and the players. I just wish all "fans" could do the same.
Complaining about the complaining. Classic.
Why don't you do you and stop telling other people how they should feel and act.
Set whatever example you want to set. Good luck.
Some people care about how the behavior of our “fans” reflect on the university. You’re right, everyone is entitled to their opinion. But if the mob behaves like angry children, some of us feel the need to point out that we should be better than that.
I understand the anger/frustration, but a little perspective and appreciation for how we each reflect on the university would be a welcome change on this board. Voices of reason are always welcome in the conversation as far as I’m concerned.
You, like everyone, is entitled to their opinion but being calm and reasonable usually doesn't lead to change. It leads to more of the same until somebody snaps.
Do you think, given the exact same results on the court, that if attendance was still at 16k per game and donations were still at an all-time high that we'd be getting a new basketball coach?
I can assure you that we would not be.
Absolutely not, that part of it I get. What I take issue with is the name calling, the character assassination and so forth.
Tubby has failed at several crucical aspects of his job, and I agree that the fanbase should let their feelings be known, including voting with their wallets should that be something they wish to do.
The mudslinging and name calling, however, is pathetic in my opiniion. It’s not the way Memphis folks treat people.
Speaking of name calling: are you one of the cornbread eating plate licking rednecks that racist TTaylor constantly tweets about, lol

Very painful to see you take a holier than thou approach at people for not JUST being a Tiger fan, in other words, be better to Tubby...while you comment about what Josh Pastner did to this program.
Spiced with labeling his legacy as a dumpster fire.
Try something more original next time, you embarrass yourself with that...er...second post.
Or, try, get this...supporting the program...I do, and I just wish fans like you, yeah, could do the same.

Tubby is NOT a member of the Naismith Hall of Fame, so please stop saying this. It’s offensive to the coaches who actually are enshrined there.

Tubby Smith is not in the coaches hall of fame. Why do people keep calling him a HOF Coach?

I beg to differ. What's wrong with Memphis basketball is lack of recruiting, dismal attendace and a coach that has gone out of his way to alienate himself from us fans that support the program.
However, what is wrong with this board is fans trying to put each other into categories. Division amongst one another. Its entirely okay for us to disagree and not be "good" or "bad" fans. I'm a spoiled child? Please. It was a joke. Anybody lacking a stick in their arse could see that.
Lighten up, bud. In the grand scheme of things this isn't that serious.
