CAA is a joke without us, VCU, and GMU. Their clear #1 team is a 13 seed in the dance. Marshall is our fourth best team and they are a #13 seed. And I don’t care about the conference RPI. The top four in CUSA dust the top four in CAA - all day every day.
Our clear 1 didn't get into the tournament. Not even the first 4 out. They would have been a 12 seed at best.

Our clear best was in the top 25. When is the last time the CAA had a ranked team?
What the hell does that mean when you don't even make the tournament? It wasn't like they were too 25 all season.

That says more about the bias of the cimmittee and not the level of play. At least CUSA “deserves” more than 1 team in.

Dude, did you bother to click the link. They are statistically better than CUSA every year. You can make some arguments is CUSA 's favor if you want to, I might make some of them myself, but to act like CUSA is a significantly better basketball conference is supported by nothing.

Sent from my Pixel C using Tapatalk

My point was a comparison of the top teams in both conferences - not the conferences in total. The top four in cusa are better than the caa - pure and simple. Not going to argue the point.
Oh okay. Now you are cherry picking teams to determine which conference is better. Again, there is not enough difference between the two to make a proclamation that one is vastly better than the other.

Wed have 14 teams, CAA 10. If you took out our 4 worst teams, how would we rank?
Not many conferences have 14 teams and only ACC has 15. Is our RPI being hurt by having to many teams? and obviously to many bad teams. Wonder where we'd stand with 12 teams, take 2 bottom feeders?

I don't disagree, but as it stands we do have those crappy teams, and we get wins from playing them. I would probably agree if the argument was that the top 4 teams in CUSA are better than those on CAA, but I think it's ridiculous to **** on CAA as a joke and inferior conference to CUSA when there is no measurable argument that supports that.

Completely agree - we are a top heavy league. CAA is not. No one is arguing Northeastern should be in.

Well if we're looking to raise the conferences RPI, why not schedule a series of top 4-5 CUSA teams vs theirs?

I agree with you Gilesfan. You have to strike when the iron is hot. Years ago we had an opportunity to get into the Big East and passed. How much of a mistake was that? When the right opportunity comes around next time I'd like to think we'll be ready.

And years ago we had a chance to join the A10 and passed too. Seems as if that chance has come again, and again... we are passing.

Has that ever been confirmed, that the A-10 invited ODU and ODU said no? Because it's been established that the A-10 told ODU no a few years ago when they were looking at their post-CAA options, and while their commish said they'd take ODU now, who knows if she was just being polite on ODU turf, since they're not adding schools and don't even need to backfill if schools leave?

Meanwhile, for those of you pining for the CAA: You would HATE today's CAA. HATE it. Look at their, ahem, "TV" deal. One game a week streamed on CBS Digital. No TV at all. They'd probably kill for a Stadium/BeIN/CBS Sports deal.

I get why people are nostalgic, but put it this way: I miss going to Blockbuster on Friday night but I'm not interested in going back to those days. I REWINDED THE TAPE, TAKE THIS CHARGE OFF MY ACCOUNT YOU ********.
Yes it has been established years ago and Harry recently confirmed it. In spite of your desire to bee Lil' Woody and Dyin' John's spokesman (I hope you are getting paid), poor decisions have been made.

In the CAA you wouldn't need a TV deal. You could travel to the games.
XACLY. And most schools have their own media. Many are free. No worse than CUSA TV, or whatever you call it. BEiN is a good setup. Wish we got on it more than twice.

They were not a top 25 team. They didn't even make the last 4 out. They went on a long win streak against a bunch of bad teams. They were never one of the best 25 teams. There OOC tells you what they are. A gritty team capable of winning games against good teams, but not top 25. About as good as Charleston, but in the Central time zone.

No one is romanticizing, but if wee are going to be in a one bid league, might as well be one in our time zone with rivalries.

Forget football. Love the games, but couldn't care less if it is FIU or Towson playing and based on the view from the stands, most would rather play Towson. Our ceiling is Eastern Michigan on a Wednesday afternoon the week before Christmas. That's no better than FCS playoffs. Even if we win the conference championship game, we still just get a crappy bowl.

But it’s all part of the equation and can’t be ignored. And VT coming to town this year will be the biggest event in Norfolk in a decade. They may kick our teeth in, but they came to Norfolk to do it. Who would have ever dreamed of a day? Not me.

So we should stay this losing course to be the Washington Generals when the Harlem Globetrotters come to town?

Losing course? Our road to the dance in bball isn’t any different than the caa. It’s just harder to win the tournament in cusa.
