I understand the exitement a tourney creates but it makes the regular season meaningless for a lot of teams. Anything can happen over the course of a couple games; why is that rewarded over 5 months of play? This is the one thing I like about soccer....but i do understand tourneys make dollars.

Because we are sending our best team right now. MTSU, ODU, and WKU peaked too early.

Tourneys are a crapshoot.

You find out who the weak coaches are in a tournament. You definitely find out in championship games.

Yea exactly. Really intelligent comment. Dantoni isn’t a great coach, he’s just better than Jones. He figured out that they needed to play more defense this year, and they did. They jumped 100 spots defensively.. We jumped a ton offensively until we played good teams.

Yes because he keeps his players loose and capable of doing so as opposed to another whose team is so tight it can't perform.

Marshall was about the 100 best team in America, lost to us twice, but their coach is better because they won a 3 day tourney? The logic just doesnt fly. People love to judge on small samples.

Everyone of us knew we were not an NCAA team pretty much at the Strat of the season. We had no depth at the 4/5 positions. Yes Kah and McClinton injuries hurt. We lacked scoring on even a remotely consistent basis. We had games where we shot free throws well but too many where we didn't. We had a very remote chance at NIT but when you can't beat any good teams it really leaves a bad impression on the selection committees. Same old ODU story...a good defensive team that lacked scoring. With the talent we had, this staff got about as much out of them as possible. JJ is a good coach, but does not motivate in away that builds confidence. I just hope he realizes it is his time to retire.

He got them to play and execute when it counted. That is what coaches are suppose to do as well as the Xs and Os.

I do think they had a good defensive gampelan. They followed what MTSU did to them (and us). But Elmore heaving 30 footers isnt good offense just because he makes them. Sometimes **** just happens. Its not like he had some Great X and Os game that unlocked a puzzle.

The logic doesn’t fly? They’re in the NCAA Tournament buddy. Get your team ready at the right time. Jones doesn’t do that. They advanced further than us. “People love to judge on small samples.” LOLOLOLOL...we are done playing for anything meaningful, and they are still playing. Wow, you really don’t get it.

Elmore made 5 - 30 footers because he had the confidence, skills, and the coaching green light to shoot the ball when he has an opening. That is what coaches are suppose to do...understand the talent and let the players execute.

Or maybe Elmore just has enough stones to manup and be the best player on the floor.
