RE: NIT?
If Middle gets an at-large (very iffy) and Western wins tonight, then the NIT will want a CUSA representative (us). I believe our NIT fate will depend on these outcomes.

The NIT will want a .500 team from the Big 10 long before they want us or any of our conference brothers.

Another auto bid gone, Arkansas Pine Bluff. Not one freakin conference winner will win its tournament today. Unbelieveable.

When is the last time a CUSA team was not in the NIT? I haven’t looked it up, but I’m guessing it would be an odd year for a CUSA team to not be in the NIT. But the autobids are hurting us mightily right now.

There will be a team in the NIT...MTSU and that is likely it. Maybe they see a regional opportunity and a way to make money by having ODU play HU. That might our only chance to get in.

Zero chance that happens.
If we get in, which we won't, it would be as an 8 seed. Hampton would need to be a one.
Not gonna happen.

They have a seeding system like the NCAA. Hampton will almost certainly be an eight seed and have to play at a one seed. Presuming that auto-bids will eat up the sevens and eights, ODU would get in as a 6 or 5 if they get in at all.
Now if it were a third-tier tournament, they don't seed and have more freedom to make regional-friendly matchups, but Hampton is guaranteed their NIT berth and ODU has already told the CIT/CBI no thanks.

If that is true, our season is already over.

Almost certainly a 6 if there were enough seeds leftover. But so many stolen bids thay there may not be any left.

Why not accept a bid to the CIT or CBI if we can't get in the NIT?

They earned nothing. They beat nobody. Don’t reward bad coaching with more layup wins.

Western goes down and our NIT hopes. Although I’m actually glad Western got beat. No dance for Johnson and Stansbury.

To think a team that started the season 0-14, gets in over a 25-7 ODU.

Man haven’t heard that yet ... look the top 4 teams of this conference are good teams .. we swept Marshall they swept MTSU and just beat WKU for the title .. we didn’t bring it when it mattered. Don’t think even if we made the dance we would have seized the moment .. NIT would have been a better opportunity to win some games and call if accepting mediocrity or what ever the saying is but reality is we are decent team that wasnt the best in CUSA.

I understand the exitement a tourney creates but it makes the regular season meaningless for a lot of teams. Anything can happen over the course of a couple games; why is that rewarded over 5 months of play? This is the one thing I like about soccer....but i do understand tourneys make dollars.
