All I know is I’m sick of us not being in the tournament, and when a team as talented and with a record like ODU has can’t even get into the NIT something is wrong. It’s going to kill college basketball because the only thing in the whole 4 month season that matters are three days to in March.

That’s why your schedule matters. You play big games so your guys know what it’s like to play and with that pressure.

Marshall had the 190th best schedule. MTSU was 82 WKY was 74. Wrong.

Haha. How do u think Marshall feels? It’s been 31 years for them. And the best player they ever had wasnt even recruited to play there. He just showed up on campus.

Marshall played in a huge game on the road at Xavier. Middle won it two years in a row and has a chance at an at large bid. Stansbury is the coach of WKU...nothing else needs to be said. Once again, a guy that’s never played under a ton of pressure. You don’t know how important it is. Stick to your numbers.

Should we just start the off-season meme-fest and general silliness already? Otherwise this place will be quite dry until about mid-July.

We really aren't that talented. We looked more talented than we are because we beat up on terrible opposition all year long.

If we played in the AAC or the A10 we would struggle to finish in the top half.

We just looked good by comparison

He knows absolutely nothing about numbers either. Don't even bother.

Our sos was abysmal by every possible measure and it absolutely played a major roll in why we were unprepared in the tourney yet again although the more direct culprit was a lack of talent and jones complete and total refusal to attempt to develop any depth whatsoever.

Bingo and I would add he does not motivate or create an environment that allows players to succeed and grow mentally.

Comparing the ODU basketball program to Marshall is about as bad as well,... comparing Marshall’s football to ODU.

Harvard loses to Penn. I don't remember a year in recent memory that so many regular season champs lost in the conference tournament.

Of course it happens when ODU needs a bid to the NIT too. It seems a huge chunk of the NIT field will be conference champs now. Which is ridiculous because most of those teams should be in the NCAAs Feels like the entire ODU sports program is just snakebitten with bad luck right now.

Could be perception. In 2016, the NIT had 15 (!) automatic qualifiers, and they've had at least 10 every season starting with 2011. This year there'll be 11 or 12, depending on what happens to Middle Tennessee (and it could have been worse — Arkansas-Pine Bluff was the No. 1 seed in the SWAC but they won't get the auto NIT bid because the regular-season champion was Grambling, which in ineligible for postseason).

At this point I don't expect ODU to get an NIT bid but despite the seemingly relentless torrent of bad news in the past 48 hours, I wouldn't say they're out of it by any stretch.

Davidson gets into the dance which frees up a spot in the NIT but unfortuanty almost puts a nail in the coffin for MTSU to get in thus we aren’t getting 3 teams in the NIT...

RE: NIT?
The same thing happens every year. Last year everyone was saying we were in and based on what I had estimated we were out. We were out then and after the loss to MTSU this year I said we had no chance for the NIT. It will be a miracle if we get in. Our resume SUCKS ! Plus now Penn stole another bid. I hope I am totally wrong but this season is over.

No one said we were in last year. Go back and look if you can prove me wrong. I went and searched. It would be idiotid to say we should have been in the NIt last year. Its like you write your own narrative.

This year? We were in until yesterday.

RE: NIT?
Maybe the NIT needs to expand and go back to 48 teams. I like that they take the reg. season champs that get shafted out of the NCAA because of the patch sewn on their jerseys, but too many deserving teams outside of the privileged five get left out now.

We really really need Middle to get an at-large. I’m an eternal optimist and am holding out hope. And just maybe we squeak in the NIT. I know - long shot...but there is still a chance.

That’s the only with MTSU getting in the dance

NIT?
Middle getting an at large has nothing to do with it. The number of spots and candidates for spots is the same. The NIT is a little funny in that there is a chance if we were to get in, we'd get a 4 seed due to the Ted... or like that one year we got a home game against a better seed because they couldn't or wouldn't host. They know we'll fill it from last time whereas fans from schools like Maryland or Nebraska will be no shows.
