AAC Looking To Partner With Another Conference on Officials
More information on a subject kicked around on another thread. I was unaware that the MAC already does the same thing with the Big10. Maybe we throw in with them---or do something similar with the ACC?

Terry McAulay will not return as the American Athletic Conference's coordinator of football officiating in 2018 as the conference shifts to a different officiating oversight model, three people familiar with the matter confirmed to USA TODAY Sports.

The people were granted anonymity because the changes, including McAulay's departure, had not yet been announced.

The AAC plans to partner with another conference in its efforts to evaluate and oversee its football officials, two people said, which eliminated the need for McAulay's position.

Agreed.
The USA Today story specifically cited Coach Niumatalolo's repeated issues with Navy submitting bad calls and McAuley telling us Monday that we had in fact been victimized by bad calls.

As long as they make sure that Zelton Steed is not part of the deal, I'm ok with them making any change in officials they want.

I second that.

Edit: Add Karl Hess to the verboten list too.

The MAC and Big 10 do it because they share a footprint. Same reason PAC and MWC partner up. So I suppose the AAC shares a footprint with the ACC with the exception of Wichita, Tulsa, SMU, Houston, Tulane, Memphis and Cincinnati.

Notre Dame uses ACC refs and last I checked louisville was just across the river from Cincy. That kind of pulls them in. The SEC overlaps with us the best though and you are right about the others.
