Two Bid conference
Right now Lunardi has CUSA getting two bids with MT as the 3rd on the last 4 getting in. Play in game #11 seed.

He then has ODU as a 13 seed.

Would actually be a great outcome for the conference. Last night sucked for us, but it could end up working out. I dont think we get in, but Lunardi knows more than I.

Cbs has you 1st four out. Its very unlikely. Now, if you were in a p5 league, sure you get a nod. But not in cusa, they aren't going to give you any shot if you give them a way out. It would be an absolute travesty, but i just wouldn't expect a bid, though I hope you get one.

RE: Two Bid conference
Doubt it. I actually would like to see it as I’m tired of all the Espin cartel schools getting in.
But I doubt it.

RE: Two Bid conference
A Marshall vs. WKU final helps MTSU. I am not sure which team winning the final would help them more. They need Marshall to stay in the RPI Top 100 and WKU to stay in the RPI Top 50.

Factoring in the USM and ODU games, WKU is RPI #37. Marshall is RPI #97.

If we beat Marshall, we end up around 33, Herd at 98.

If we lose to Marshall, we end up around 40, Herd at 89.

If that holds true, either way helps MTSU stay in the right quadrants.

Do not assume the committee uses numbers and logic in any combination.

RE: Two Bid conference
So who do we need to root for to get two bids? We need as few "bid-stealers" as possible. That means we need Rhode Island or St. Bon to win the A10. ULL to win the Belt. Wichita, Cincy, or Houston to win the AAC. New Mexico St in the WAC. Any others? Obviously no major upsets in the "power" conferences either.

Alabama winning today certainly didn't help.

Mentioned in one of the other threads, but Nevada is currently getting throttled by SDSU in the MWC. There's another bid to be stolen. I definitely wouldn't worry about NMSU. A10 and AAC might be problematic, but I'm fairly confident that one of those teams will win their respective tournaments.

ULL won’t get an at-large, so it doesn’t matter who wins the Belch.

The only possible bid stealers are from the A-10 and the American . You need to be more worried about mediocre traditional power conference teams getting in. Alabama's last two wins didn't help anything.

If metrics help MT's case, the selection committee will ignore it, if there are metrics that hurt MT's case, the selection committee will latch on to those and use them to exclude the Raiders.

I also forgot about the MWC, which is certain to get a second bid.

RE: Two Bid conference
This is not shaking out well for the conference; Middle Tennessee is more and more doubtful for an at-large as the bubble shifts, and all the regular-season champions crapping out in their conference tournaments are quickly squeezing the NIT field to the point where CUSA may only get Middle or WKU in. And even WKU might be shaky if they lose today.

I think wins by Villinova and USC would help a little.

Whatever matrix that helps exclude a non power team that is what will be used. This is nothing new lately.

Memphis lost so the Aack gets 3. All ranked in Top 25 (Cinc, Wichita, Houston) so no bid-stealing there.

RE: Two Bid conference
Teams like Bama are going to hurt MTSU chances and we had them beat at their place too but blew it back when Bracy was healthy & Harris was still on the team...

Somehow we all have to do a better job in non-conference. We were in the same situation as MTSU a couple of times over the last few years.
