He runs a quick 8.23 seconds, worth 925 points. That's significantly better than at conference (8.34 --> 898 points).

Here's how the leaders did in the pole vault at conference championships:

Duckworth 5.10 (16' 8¾")
Veith 4.94 (16' 2½")
Erm 4.75 (15' 7")
Saluri 4.70 (15' 5") --> did not compete at conference (done in January)
Mechler 4.60 (15' 1")
Lawson 4.60 (15' 1") --> did not compete at conference (done in December)
Moore 4.55 (14' 11")
Nytes 4.45 (14' 7¼")
Adams 4.30 (14' 1¼")
Filip 4.30 (14' 1¼")

As you can see, it's the pole vault that can make or break a competitor (the times/points) in the 1000 are too close. Duckworth should have such a huge lead going into the 1000 that he can just jog it.
