IF - big if at this point - Wiseman reclassifies and commits to Memphis then I would be OK with a roster that looked like the following:

I think Connor, Azab, and possibly Enoh could be encouraged and convinced that there are potential opportunities elsewhere that would be better fits for them.

Penny would probably pull in another recruit or two (Anfernee Simmons, a grad transfer), and I see no reason we wouldn't make the tourney and possibly do some minor damage.

Also, It depends on the current state of the APR.

Maybe Penny knows more former players that can get a degree. Each former player adds a point. I think Tubby got 3.

We don't want to go on probation in 2020. Tubby has us real close. The six transfers last year were -6 at best. And I think Pastner will hit us too since it's a four year rolling average.

I did not think transfer had a negative impact as long as they were in good academic standing at the time they left.

The exception to your list is Nickleberry IMO. I believe he has a lot of potential and Penny would want him to stick around. I think by his junior year he will be a significant player on our roster.

Should Penny become the coach, does his AAU affiliation prevent him from recruiting any kids he had a former relationship with?

Not debating whether if such a ban exists whether that is right, simply wondering if there are limitations.

Jayden is at IMG, but he didn't have any D1 offers last year. That reminded me of Collin Sexton and Penny getting into at Peach Jam last summer:

He signed. His family actually had the UHaul packed and was ready to drive him to Memphis and Barbee basically told him, "You can still come if you want, but you probably won't ever see the court."

Good comparison, Kendrick decides to go straight to the NBA draft, and Cal puts Keena Young on call block on his phone.

Keena ended up having a decent run at BYU, went to a few tournaments with Jimmer.

Yeah, I recall Cal pushed Taggart out even when he wasn't the coach. Pastner was missing one key piece to making the tourney his first season and that was Shawn Taggart.

Yep. If we had Taggart and if Latavious Williams came (and was eligible), that was no doubt an NCAA squad. Hell, almost made it anyway.

First round loss in CUSA tournament by 1 to Houston cost us NCAA. Was 2 seed in tournament after going 13-3 in conference.
