If Penny has wanted this job for the entire time Tubby has been in there...Is this possibly why it was tougher for Tubby to land local recruits.

Only way Penny gets this job is if Tubby failed...And Penny was in a position to accelerate that failure.

Let's not give all the credit to Penny.

Leaks were springing out everywhere.

The timing could not have been better, what with TSF donation renewals and Tubby's transfer rant that went nationwide.

People actually took a hard look at Tubby's 'trusted' method of getting to the Dance. All they had to do was project his results for the next two years.

Bottom line. The BB program couldn't survive another two years like this one.

Coaches and families all over town have NEVER heard from Tubby.

Heard a testimonial from "Teddy" yesterday on the Eric Hasseltine show.

Said that on three separate occasions that Tubby was given his number by a close friend or himself and asked Tubby to call him.

Has still to this day NEVER heard from him.

Get it through you head.

Tubby doesn't care and won't recruit.

And he was/is being paid $3,000,000 a year to do it.

Given Tubby's lifelong resume of not being able to recruit, I would say that Penny didnt have to do anything but sit back and allow Tubby to be Tubby.

Add in the fact that Saul is on staff, and the recruiting debacle is magnified.

And in all of this, Tubby seems to be fine with it. He's a good enough coach to take a group of kids and get them into the NCAA tournament in 3 to 4 years. And for some schools, that is good enough. For some reason, Tubby thought that was good enough at Memphis.

That's the big picture. This isn't about Penny playing hardball so much as it is about Tubby not even getting in the game.

Tubby didn't want to deal with it, and basically waved Memphis (both recruits AND the city) off in general. You may be able to do that in other places, but not here.

Also, keep in mind most of the "news/leaks" broke after Tubby's little public national rant. I would seem to think the leaks would be booster related than Penny related.
