Since Chris Mack started (2009-2010) they have a +1 to .500 on us in the shootout (oddly enough, one could point to the 2OT game at Cintas where XU shot 16 more free throws, including 6 in the last 30 seconds of the 1st OT when they were down by 4 which would even it out).
We have a better overall record (218-85 to 213-95)
We have been to the tournament the same amount of times (8)
They have made 3 Sweet Sixteens and 1 Elite Eight
We have made 1 Sweet Sixteen

In their Sweet Sixteen years, their second round opponents were:
Georgia State (14 seed)
Lehigh (15 seed)
Pittsburgh (3 seed)

In the years we failed to get out of the second round our opponents were:
UCLA (3 seed)
Kentucky (Overall #1 seed)
UConn (3 seed and eventual National Champion)

Forgive me if I think you're being a little hyperbolic with the "passing us by" comments.

I don't care who we have to play in the tournament. If we want to be the team we all think we are we need to beat those teams.

Since I have been a fan...2006ish, Xavier has been a much better team going much further in the tournament and winning conference titles. 2 Sweet sixteens in almost 20 years...

Compare that with Xavier the past 20 years and it is not that impressive. I was 3 when we made the Final Four, and yet we still talk about it like it is relevant to the current basketball landscape. By most all metrics we are not currently as good of a program as Xavier.

I just compared the current regimes and there isn't much difference. If you're basing comparative success off of beating Georgia State instead UCLA and Lehigh instead of Kentucky, I don't know what to tell you man. If we're talking conference titles, they've got one in the broken husk of the Big East and two in the A-10. We've got two in the AAC. Not much difference there if you ask me. I would say our two in the AAC outweigh their two in the A-10 by a considerable margin considering competition level.

Head to head records also apply. After a year or two nobody remembers who you beat in the tournament. They just remember that you were in the Sweet 16 or the Elite Eight.

92 FF is relevant to me. I am not going to apologize for not being 3 yrs old. Was a great memory from my high school into college years. Final 4 memories are something no one has yet to experience over at Eggs. I came to UC in 92, so my sample size is a little larger than yours.

X demonstrated after the Crosstown Brawl that as an institution, their leadership was unwilling to reign in the basketball program. So these incidents will continue.

As a small, private university without a prestigious pedigree or large endowment, any national identity they have is totally dependent upon the success of men's basketball. Even then, it took years of tourney appearances before commentators stopped referring to the school as Egg-zavier.

Wonder if JP Macura might be at it again. Not shaking hands Or telling St John players to F-OFF. Like he did Cronin. The Enquirer is asking the questions but Mack won’t give any answers.
Just wondering.

loved it when JP Macura missed a potential game winning layup and then charged with a foul. Blueitt and he both weren't smiling in overtime or at the end of the game. Should have let the ST Johns players wiped them off the floor

evidently Chris Mack sees himself in those players. He was the same kind of person. Cocky, mouthy and never accepting the blame when things go wrong. He'll feel worse when he stands before Jesus Christ at the Great White Throne judgement giving an account of his life.

A number of schools have had altercations with XU — Butler, Purdue, UC, Saint Johns, are there others? At what point does everyone including the media figure out the common denominator?

They stalk this board...

They always have. Obsessed with UC. Can’t say I felt the need to check out an Eggs board after a win or a loss. What’s the point?

Lol, this is literally a thread about Xavier. Some of you guys have the rose colored glasses on a little too tight.

Edit: to clarify, I'm agreeing with Rtaylor. There's clearly a Xavier obsession here.

I hate XU. I like it when they lose. I admit it.

Its our biggest/ fiercest rivalry (at least in hoops) and is recognized nationally as such. It is what it is.

Go check out Indiana/Purdue boards. Talk about obsession.

Its what rivals do, and it's OK.

I hope Zavier loses every game... and I'm darned proud of it.

RE: Xavier has another end of the game altercation
I have disdained XU all my life and I am 64.I am not sure how it got started especially since my Dad was an XU grad and all my kids went to St. X high school. Odd (?) since I love my Dad and kids. I am not sure what the ICD9 code is for this hatred of XU but I will take it to the grave.
Bottom line lets keep sharing our bashing of this Evanston entity. It is an entertaining distraction between games.
