Young Mr. Young
Trae Young is an amazing talent and will almost certainly be one-and-done, but I was not overwhelmed by how he played last night against OSU (which evidently is how he has played the last part of the season).

He tries to do too much. He makes things happen, but they are not always good things. He needs to let the game come to him more. If he stayed around another year or too, he might learn that fact, but he probably will get to learn it in the NBA. I checked, and Oklahoma has lost eight of their last ten games. (Does that make him a "winner"?)

LSU did not win big with Maravich, either. San Fransisco and Boston won very big with Bill Russell. Some players make their teams much better, and some do not. Russell did. Zach Graber did.

RE: Young Mr. Young
The ironic thing is that if Oklahoma does make the tournament (not a given at this point), they could actually make a deep run. Big 12 teams have had all season to study Young, and others won't have that opportunity. And he certainly can take over a game when he is "on."

RE: Young Mr. Young
Which brings up a question if they really want the ball in Young's hands all the time. If they had another true facilitator point, and Young could play off the ball, then there would be less temptation for him to try to do too much, plus the opposition would have to be watching him AND the ball. With him handling the ball they have both in view.
