Thursday 9:30 in Frisco: La Tech (17-15, 8-11 CUSA).

Last game: La Tech ended a four-game losing streak, overcoming a hot start by North Texas, hitting their last 5 shots to lead 31-27 at HT. La Tech held slim leads throughout the second half (largest lead 58-50 with 1:47) and hit 10-12 FTs to seal the game. Jacobi Boykins led LT with 21 pts (6-13 FG, 2-6 3s, 7-7 FT) and Derric Jean added 17 (3-6 FG, 2-2 3s, 9-13 FT). Defense was a key, holding N Texas to 43% FG, 4-14 3s, and 5 blocked shots.

It’s been a troubled year for La Tech- injuries and player defections. LT shot poorly in CUSA games (# 10 CUSA FG%, but # 3 3%) and defended poorly (#11 opponent FG%, #12 opponent 3%).

Boykins was #12 CUSA in pts/g, #1 FT% and #3 in 3% (#4 3s made/g)

I have an 11:15 flight tomorrow. I booked a 6:30 flight once and it was delayed until 11am anyway. I know any flight can be delayed but US Airways didn't have a good track record with me. Somewhat better with American.

Early flights are the best though. I love getting to an empty airport.

I don't make a habit of betting on sports, but if I did, I would take the Monarchs to cover, and I think taking the over will be a lead pipe cinch. I just have the feeling that we are going to have to score some points to win, and I hope we don't come out cold.

I wouldn't say it's a lock. I know we put 80+ on them last time but I thing the venue & jitters could affect our shooting. We might need our defense to win this for us.

My psyche would prefer to win this one easily without the game ever in doubt but I just don't think that will happen

I might advise picking LT to beat the spread, even though ODU should win. They have 40 minutes of game experience in that weird-ass setup in Frisco, which can't hurt them.

LT is our ****. We will beat them with ease. Their soft ass style just does not match up.

The nice thing about them being a 10 seed is their online army has given up so we don't see much of their ridiculous posts anymore. I miss puppy butt sometimes though.

I mean, they destroyed us last year.

I put no stock into stuff that's happened before. Crazy things happen in basketball tournaments. Expect a real battle myself.
