Coke, Ha Ha, and Scootie all came to play. The supporting cast has to pick it up.
The last 3-4 minutes of the game got very dicey from my perspective. We were up about 20 and then our guys started sloppy play, passes, quick shots and the next thing I know , we are down to 9 or 10 point lead and Im cussing Nate, and Bryant and Sullivan ( and Ehsan for letting it get that close). YIPES!
That's because as soon as you are up by 20 in this tournament you suddenly realize you are playing in an empty aircraft hangar and it loses its luster.

I really liked the pace when Norton and Bryant were both in the game. We were trying to push the ball up the court after every rebound, and that makes scoring so much easier. Haha even led a few fast breaks after a rebound. Nate only attempted one three-pointer, but still found other ways to contribute, which is what you want from the fourth scoring option on the court.
The second group had some real trouble on both ends of the court. Bench unit had 50% of our turnovers.

Good point. Maybe that helps us tonight since our guys had a game to adjust to the unusual setting.
Sullivan had an off game. Hopefully he bounces back tonight.

Seeing Makhtar go for a couple of finishes was nice. Pretty smooth for a big guy.
Here's hoping WKU doesn't remember how bad they were whupped last week in Bham.

Tip off is at 10:00 PM. Thank goodness Team UAB has ample rest last night, as well as more rest this afternoon and evening, and ample time for good meals and probably a morning and afternoon practice of "strategy" against WKU.

If there is anyone in the tournament built for the postseason, we are. When we get hot, we're top 25 caliber good. Unfortunately, we haven't been consistent this season. Maybe these guys have to have something to play for to be motivated to bring their best. Haha looked like a different player last night. And I have a feeling that we are going to see Scootie score 30+ points a few times in his UAB career.
Here's to hoping Ehsan follows Haase's script for his second season as coach.
Edit: Check that...it was Haase's third season that we had such a great tournament run. So...let's hope Ehsan beats him to the punch.

Yeah, he had to do it with hopefully three more to play. We got a look at a Gueye-Sullivan front court and it wasn't pretty although Makhtar looked more composed last night. I hope our two freshman bigs coming in next season are more ready to contribute. We're going to need them.
