What's the injury status for Dom, Dunlap, and Moss? Timeline?

And Salinas and Acker.
I believe Dom was 4 - 6 weeks for a hernate break.
Dunlap was supposed to be back last weekend.
Moss is likely going to be out for awhile with shoulder impingement (rotator cuff/tricept tendonitis).

Jefferies falls behind in the count 3-0 to the 1st pitcher in B9, then strikes out the side.

I have a suggestion....I think we should play like this every game and see how it goes. The multi-error, multi-walk, slopfest style doesn't seem to work as well as this.
Good job, Owls!

RE: Rice Baseball at Lamar
Quite the dominant outing by Jefferies: 2.0 IP, 0 hits, 0 runs, 0 BBs, 4 Ks.
Quality road win with excellent pitching, error-free defense, 12-hits on offense and a couple well-executed sac bunts.
Game Ball #1: Roel Garcia (W, 1-0, 5.0 IP, 3 hits, 1 run, 1 BB, 5 Ks)-- just what the doctor ordered. First career start. First career win. Career best in innings and strikeouts. Let's hope this is his breakout performance, and he's now worked out his control issues. No one has ever doubted his stuff.
Game Ball #2 (or co-#1): Ford Proctor (4-5, 1 run, 4 RBIs)-- playing in front of family and friends in his home town of Beaumont, Ford had himself a day.
Game Ball #3: Ryan Chandler (2-4, BB, 3 runs, 2 SBs)-- just continues to have quality AB after quality AB. A totally different player this year. He still doesn't take walks, but he's no longer striking out, and he's become a killer 2-strike hitter.
Nice (and much-needed) bounce-back win. Let's start building some momentum with a series win vs. a good Gonzaga team this weekend. Go Owls!

with so many games this week, is 3-4 days rest (especially after only 2 innings, surely they weren't expecting extras today) unusual? Serious Question... as you know, not at all my area... WOuld this have been a 'regular throwing day' for him and (just guessing) 30 hard pitches??

Jeffries will be fine to throw by Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. Most pitchers will throw a bullpen a couple days before they pitch anyway. The amount of work he got tonight was perfect.

Friday will be Canterino.
Amador I would think for one of the games Saturday.
Jefferies on Saturday or Sunday I’d think.
Not really sure who for that 4th game. Maybe Bordwine?

You're going to have that when you have a very hot top half of the lineup and an ice cold bottom half.
In the meantime, Lewis with a 1-2-3 seventh inning, with one strikeoutK.
Lamar continues its parade of one-inning pitchers; this time it appears to be a weekend starter...
Cox struck out.
Gneiting grounded out.
Chandler walked. Two outs.
Chandler steals 2B again!
Cruz walked, with Chandler taking 3B on passed ball. Two outs.
Chandler scores (and Cruz advances to 2B) on wild pitch. Two outs.
Comeaux struck out swinging on a 9-pitch AB.
Good guys take a 6-1 lead into the bottom of the eighth inning.
Catching up on the game thread...
How rare is it to do what Chandler did here?
Advanced from AB to scoring *without* the ball being put in play... and advancing via different method on each base?
Only left out the balk and dropped 3rd strike I believe?

Good to get a win at Lamar with mistake free ball and decent pitching. Hopefully the beginning of a trend!
Zero point zero extra base hits tonight...that's right...12 singles on the night. Lack of power is concerning but at least the easy stuff was fixed tonight.

In this age of parity, it is good to beat anyone anytime-especially on the road. My point- Only Wayne Graham would have been crazy enough to start Roel in this critical game after his last outing and the pressures on the staff. As is much more often the case than not, he gets it right.
