This is not a talent issue. This is not a coaching issue. This is a CULTURE issue.

+100 this is a hot mess. For every 1 step forward, there’s been 10 steps backwards. At this pace we will for sure be the worst basketball program in the nation.

We can be the worst, but as long as we get publicity for it, all is well with STF. I can't wait to hear how he spins this - if he even does.

Time for the Interim President to get involved with Athletics. Clean house from the top down and start over (again).

STF won't address it until three weeks after every detail has been leaked

RE: Basketball transfers
Here is some of what I have noticed from afar. He has recruited some good players and failed to keep them. He has recruited ALOT of small players (not just not tall-- actually small) and did not red shirt them and apparently never put them on a program such that they remained small. (That one is inexplicable to me given our facilities and the need to grow guys. In today's college basketball environment, a school that can keep a group of decent players together for four years has a really good chance of winning!)

I have seen too few games to fairly evaluate in-game coaching- though I have seen some head scratchers. And then there is the ability (or inability) to draw in fans.

Sometimes addition by subtraction works. If paying to make a change is necessary, ...........

Is there a date(deadline) that players have to declare their intention to transfer?

Nobody answers the phones at NIU. Best bet is contacting players (and staff) through social media

If this goes down STF will be in full turtle mode until he starts tooting his horn about another fundraiser.

It’s been said and it sucks. Monty is a classy and nice person. Hate it for him and his family.

This is pathetic. All signs point to the issue now being Monty. I really wonder what his deal is. Can’t wait to hear the reasoning via twitter and that before the coaches.

We will have to wait for the informed sources to feed the information to the Chronicle.

Would it possible that there are not enough male BB players for a legitimate team?

I guess you could just hold open tryouts and throw jerseys on the guys from the rec center if push comes to shove. Sort of like when an NHL team runs out of goaltenders and the locker room manager is forced to suit up.

German can play and maybe he wants to win more but will he have the same control/role of the next team? Something for him to consider.

If he goes to a good team he will not be the best player.

I always figured German is to big of a gym rat to leave. I wouldn’t think he could handle having to sit out a year but who knows things are a mess and going to get worse before better!

RE: Basketball transfers
Guys I couldn’t see leaving are German, Bradley and Key. Key just sat out so he’s not going to do that again and only have one more year instead of two. Bradley isn’t graduating before next season so he would have to sit a year and then play his final year. Doesn’t seem like he would do that. German plays, practices everyday night and day doesn’t seem like he could sit. Everyone else I could see them leaving mostly because of their role also Lacey James can’t leave and sit out again.

222......you are to basketball as Randy is to football on this board. Even though maybe a little more positive than should have been, your info has always been spot on and if you are suggesting we are in for worse times, I’m going to trust that. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, scoop, insight.

If I ever wished you were way off I would hope it’s now, but I will only cross my fingers.

To me, Lacey James would be a candidate to go—-and being a senior, Levi might not be far behind. The tweet said three rotation players......

RE: Basketball transfers
If Levi Bradley left he would have to sit out a year. That seems dumb when you only have one more year left. Lacey James has two more years of playing. If he left he would have to sit out again he just sat out last year and he would lose a year of eligibility. I don’t think he would do that.
