MBB is about to lose a lot of guys via transfer
Josh Tolentino just tweeted this out:

One Northern Illinois men's basketball player has informed NIU coach Mark Montgomery that he will transfer. At least four players are expected to leave the program, including three rotation players, according to sources. Hearing as many as six could leave.

He is more interested in blowharding to CBS sports about UCF and a G5 playoff.

All talk ... no action....Sean Frazier.

Wow. This is a real problem that needs to be resolved quickly. I know that there is a issue overall with transfers in college basketball, but there is too much smoke here. Sure feels like time to blow it up.

He’s more worried about scoring points with P5 AD’s.

I’d love to see the select group that is the ever positive NIU basketball posters on here spin this into something good.

Trust me, they'll be here chastising everyone for being so negative and telling us that everything is great, Monty is a god, and we should all look forward to next season when we'll compete for the MAC title.

We may never find anything out through official channels (Athletics). So those of you on social media will need to monitor this closely. Next season should be quite interesting.

222 has been pretty open and critical on the other thread of the same topic here. Don’t think I’ve seen a post from cagey

I've been a big MM fan...I thought this was a great hire at the time, but obviously there is something broken. You don't lose Maric last year and lose 1-4 players each year without there being some type of underlying issue.

I wish MM the best, but we need to go another direction.

Right after I read this thread last night I turned on the TV and tuned into the Marquette-Depaul game. The announcer was touting Maric and his recent numbers ;(

Depaul is 11-20 this season, so Maric is not basking in his transfer, but none the less. He was and should be a Huskie.

I think I saw Maric play a darn good game v. Ohio St last year. Never understood why he was not fed the ball every time down the court after that game. It was as if his own coaching staff did not give him respect! Weird.

RE: MBB is about to lose a lot of guys via transfer
Common practice when one leaves a job is to go through an exit interview, where you can open up about the job you are leaving. I wonder if anything like this is done with our players who leave? Or is this against some NCAA rule? I would think that STF would want to know the exact reasons for why they are leaving (not that he would do anything about it).

U of I losing kids too: http://www.pantagraph.com/sports/college...d3345.html

"will pursue a program that fits my style of play"

Too many transfers not good for the sport, or the student-athlete's education.

Most of these kids will not go pro, but acting like big-shots jumping from program to program. What kind of lesson is the NCAA teaching here? Has to be curtailed.

Monty should be calling half of these transfers

Transferring has zero affect on academics as shown by the tens of thousands regular students who do it. Unless it's an Ivy League school or a place that has a specialized program, there is no difference in classes. Get off your high horse, these kids have a max of five years they can play college basketball, why should they be forced to waste some of those five at a place they're not happy at?
