Agree that it is strange. I'm guessing if we followed the dollars there is some reduction in Dunphy's buyout or termination clause that made it cheaper to keep him around one more year while clearly identifying and locking in his successor.

Our garbage president wanted Dunphy to stay on for the remainder of his contract. Our VP, who was previously our AD wanted McKie as HCIW.

Mick was 1-2 against Sean Miller and 3-6 against Chris Mack. Disappointing for sure but a stretch to say he's been "owned" by our arch rival's coaches. The only way to change this is to keep playing the game. Cats play them at the new arena next season so a good chance to start 1-0 against Mr. Steele.

4-8 against your rival is pretty bad. Most of those games he lost UC wasn’t even competitive. Next year is a must win.

Mick's margin of losses ordered highest to lowest:

-23
-17
-13
-10
-10
-5
-4 (2 OT)
-2

Mick's margins in the 4 wins:

20
15
10
8

In fairness, make sure you also count the games that Mick has been competitive in the series. The final score doesn't always represent the "competitiveness" of the game but he has had some close losses and some convincing wins. Again, would like to see his overall series record better than it is but the trajectory can improve starting next season.

Well, I certainly didn't say it was good. I was responding to hyperbole.

Steele has enjoyed a much higher salary cap than Mick has. Wait for the FBI investigation to come to fruition.

This is quintessential Cincinnati rationalization.

A .333 winning percentage vs your biggest rival. If this isn't what you would call being "owned", can PLEASE enlighten us as to what does qualify in your opinion? .250, perhaps? Do tell.

That sorta winning percentage gets you canned elsewhere. On the flip side, it gets you a nice new job offer when. On coach resumes a .667 winning percentage vs your best rival gets you acclaim and high praise.....as it rightfully should mind you.

Anywho, I'll stop here, and take my "hyperbole" elsewhere until I see your response.

As did I. .333 winning percentage. Fact.

You, my friend, added subjectivity in stating that that's not so bad. That it's "not so bad" isn't an objective fact.

Sooooo yeah..... you response doesn't quite hold water. We're on a sports forum. We're taking the same factual information and making subjective analysis. The thing is, only one of us is rationalizing what is very CLEARLY a poor result. Out of 12 games vs out best rival Mick wins a third of the time. Meanwhile, the opposing coaches have won TWICE as much against him. That's pretty dominant. Some would say that's "owning" the competition. Not you tho. Ok, got it. It's likely you're in the minority on this.

Sounds like they have a new/old AD as well, Dave Hart, Jr. He was formerly at Tennessee.

Mick would have to reel off four straight wins against X just to get to .500. Some people think this is acceptable; others don't. People will form their own opinions. I know what mine is.

That and his lack of post season success. 3-8 in Bowl games. Lloyd Carr at Michigan was "forced" into retirement for losing 6 of his last 7 to O$U.
