If penny... what scholarships will he honor.?
Or not. Any guesses what his team would look like year 1?

RE: If penny... what scholarships will he honor.?
you could probably make the argument that we'd keep more of the current team with Penny than Tubby.

I dont think you'd see too many changes for next year. Might see one or two transfer out per the usual.

I'd imagine Vannover would be let out of his NLI

I think that’s an issue that will take care of itself should a coaching change occur.

You honor every freaking one of the guys who are currently at the school...

Recruits is a different story.

Yup. There is no reason not to. Most of them only have 1 year left.

Even if you have 10 Sophomores...I don't think you kick a kid off of scholarship that wants to be here and is doing what he is supposed to be doing.

But I know Scholarships are a year to year offer

We know Cal would do it. It would be interesting to see pennys take on the current players.

I don't think Cal pulled anyones scholarship...

I think he just told them they would never play again at Memphis...They could stay if they wanted to.

I dont think you need to kick them off. Just tell them that they will probably not see the court. You'll have attrition

No, its being honest. You say, "listen, we will honor your scholly but we will be recruiting more talented players at your position. Your playing time will be sharply reduced or gone completely. You will be given a fair shot at competing for time but we will also focus on developing our younger players."

That statement is fine as long as if the player decides to stay he is treated fairly and normally the only reason you have that conversation with a player is because you want his scholly for someone else.

It's called being processed. Saban is the master of it at Alabama. You simply just tell the kids "Hey it might be best for you if you want to play to go somewhere else"

As long as the coach is honest with a kid there is nothing wrong with processing players out.

Attitudes like this one is why these kids should get paid.

and be allowed to transfer.

But Tubby will probably tell them they are playing for their lives in the Conference Tourney.

I fully support paying players. If the NCAA and Universities can make money off of them then they should be given some money for that.
