So far-
Ohtani 0.8
Trout 0.6
Ohtani didn't play last night. I didn't realize he wouldn't be playing in games after he pitches. So based on the current schedule, he'll only be hitting in 3 out of every 6 games (not counting games he pitches in NL parks).

true- but if they skip some of his starts to limit innings, he would be able to get near the 100 game mark batting at least.

That might indeed be true. I guess we'll have a clearer picture as the season progresses

well even right now- we're 11 games into the season and Ohtani has played in 6 games....
if you extrapolate that- he'd have 88 games to include batting and pitching. Assuming he plays next 2 days, it'd be 8 games on out of 13. Or a pace of 100.

RE: 2018 MLB Season Thread
how about this factoid from last night....
It was the first time ever that the reigning Cy Young winners both threw eight scoreless innings and allowed two or fewer hits on the same day.
Scherzer: 9 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 10 SO
Kluber: 8 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 13 SO
not too shabby.

Didn't realize Scherzer went all the way. he's not a bad pitcher.
Lucky for the Indians that Kluber didn't give up a run, as their offense has been steaming hot garbage. Right now it's the Giants, Royals and Indians bringing up the rear. The latter's BABIP is .180

Yeah Scherzer isn't bad. So effecient- 102 pitches for 9 innings.
Kluber had 103 pitches for 8 innings.
to your point about the offense- you wonder if when the weather turns even normal in the east if the offense starts getting back to normal as well.

Very possible. It's been miserable here for months. Hell, next week it's still supposed to be in the 50s

I suppose I'd prefer 50 over 90

Hey Brookes Owl, I think we're in a competition for the worst preseason bold prediction.
Just saw that Cueto placed on the DL for the Giants. Yikes.

Yeah, those were as lame as can be. Not the first time I've been really dumb; certainly won't be the last.

RE: 2018 MLB Season Thread
I know, it's early blah, blah, blah...but it's hard not to feel a healthy amount of Schadenfreude when looking at the Yankees (and listening to their fans). I'm sure Stanton will come around but for the moment I'm really soaking this in. K% of 41.7 - woosh! That's 4th in MLB, right behind (he he) Brandon Belt!
And the reason I'm even going down this path is because the Dodgers are dogshit. Trying to feel good about beating Oakland is the only other thing I can do.

Ohtani was given the night off again last night. Do if he plays tonight and tomorrow, it'll mean he'll only be hitting in 33% of their games. That would only allow him like 55 games at the plate

he could go Friday as well(his next start isn't until Sunday). So by Sunday they'll have had 17 games. He'll have pitched in 3 games and if he plays in all of these next 3 games as DH, he'll have had 7 games batting.
One place where he will be a major weapon is in the NL Road games. Not just the 4 starts, but he's also a pinch hit weapon in those other 6 games.

Weird, I thought his next start would be Saturday, as he last pitched on Sunday and they're on a 6 man rotation with no days off this week. Didn't realize they'd be using Richards a second time, before they let Ohtani pitch again

RE: 2018 MLB Season Thread
I think saw the most incredible thing with Kluber....
he's thrown the most innings of anyone since the start of the '14 season. 1.1 ahead of Scherzer. one of only 2 guys with 850+ innings, and only 10 over 800.
but he's also only #5 in most pitches thrown. He's thrown almost 800 fewer than Scherzer. And he's thrown 10 fewer than Sale, despite Sale having 58.2 innings fewer than Kluber. Think about that.
like someone on FG said- teams like having mid-rotation guys who are workhorses. You don't expect a guy to be both a workhorse and an ace. Cleveland is pretty darn lucky with that.
If Kluber can keep this up another 2-3 years, he's going to have a really good HOF case I think.
