Dodgers making scherzer work and the Nats extremely uneven lineup hasn't done anything. Harper has been underwhelming, Taylor has been awful, Turner has been solid but unspectacular, and same with Rendon. It's a good lineup, but could be better.

Dodgers going to probably have to put Hill on the DL to get another relief pitcher after tonight. Devastating for 2nd game of DH to have starter go 2 pitches. Nats finally take advantage of pen to go up 4-2.

I don’t know what to say. Nats are clearly doomed.

(It was actually a pretty good game. Scherzer with 13 Ks in 7 IP. Tough loss for him but comebacks are fun to watch.

Wow Dodgers beat Nats again. Don't look now, but the Dodgers are only 5 behind the Dbacks.

Belt with a 3 run HR, his 11th. He now leads the NL in wRC+ and will likely be tied with Pollock for the lead in WAR. Not that they'd want to, but can't imagine the Giants would have much trouble moving that contract if they wanted to.

like I've said- with how many good 1b are out there- the return for a guy like Belt who is very injury prone thru the years- would be nothing like you think it would be.

Was never looking for a return. Just wanted to move the contract. Can't imagine it'd be difficult

teams generally don't work like that. And SF I'm pretty sure isn't interested in moving him at all. I'd guess they don't think it's a bad contract in the least.

It's not a bad contract and it never was. My idea (one that will never be put into action) was that they should move as many contracts as possible, in order to give them the kind of flexibility that they currently do not have in 2020/2021. Take a look at their future commitments. It's scary

The problem with that is the contracts that they will have will still limit the flexibility.

SF has a really interesting 8 game road trip here. If they can go 4-4 they would be 28-28 at the end of May. Then after a short 6 game homestand another 10 game road trip. But after that for the next 4 weeks- only 6 road games.

I think there's a chance the Giants may be buyers rather than sellers at the deadline. Especially with the group they have and how old they are.

100% guaranteed they will not be sellers. Only chance I'm wrong is if they go winless in those upcoming 14 games. And I think we all know that won't happen

NL West (particularly the Dbacks w/o Pollock) now looking like it may be a lot crappier than we were thinking previously. Dodgers go 4-6 in the last 10 and gain ground. Giants are actually the cream of the crop in the last 10 at 5-5. At the current pace NL west winner will win <90 games, so I guess it's anybody's division and my earlier doom and gloom is on hold for the moment. Turner coming back is good, and Puig (finally) heating up is better. Pitching is still rough but I don't have a problem switching Hill for Buehler. Looks like Kershaw will be back in a couple of weeks and even mediocre, he'll help.

I don't think anybody in the NL West is gonna be a seller.

Really? They've got a bunch of valuable young talent. I'd don't think they'd trade anybody decent.

Tyson Ross if he continues to pitch well would be someone. He's a FA after this year. Only due 1.75 million. A.J. Ellis another one who is a FA after this year that could get moved pretty easily.

That's not selling. That's putting old furniture out on the curb. Don't quote me his wRC+ (or any other current stat). He's 37, his BABIP is .385, and the last time he had a wRC+ north of 100 was a platoon season in 2015.

I'll give you Ross though.

The thing that will be this year- it may be a market with not many sellers- especially with NL teams. Right now only Miami and Cincy are more than 7 games out of 1st place. In the AL only 6 teams are more than 5 games out of 1st place. So only 10 teams right now are more than 5 games out of 1st place.

It's absolutely a seller's market. Half decent pieces with reasonable contracts are going to fetch a king's ransom.
