Is Audige the most complete freshman Tony has ever brought in...and I'm including Marcus?

No doubt. While Marcus was a greater scorer he was not as multi-dimensional as Chase.

As has been said here before, Chase's ceiling is a combination of Tarpey and Thornton. That's gotta be terrifying for the rest of the CAA.

Marcus and Chase are the two freshmen in the Shaver era that made it apparent from day one that they should've been P5 recruits. Marcus of course was, following his commitment, and Chase made the biggest leap from his tape to his freshman play since Prewitt.

Tarpey was an absolute beast on the glass and a very disruptive defender; he just couldn't shoot from deep. If Chase can be 90% of the defender/rebounder Tarpey was and continue to shoot 39% from three, then yes, he's got every chance to be a better all-around player than Marcus was. It's wild that we were penciling in the PG/Milon/Pierce/Van Vliet/Knight lineup and then Chase made himself an absolutely indispensable piece to a title run and gave us the good problem of not being able to play all our championship-level players at once.

No way Chase doesn’t start next year. He is easily better than Milon. I think it’s between Milon and VV and I think VV starts.

Yeah I would have to imagine Knight/Pierce/Van Vliet/Audige are written down in ink, and I would hope Tony sees how much higher of a ceiling we have with LJ at the point.

I hope Milon is willing to embrace that sixth man role, because he's going to be a key piece in our title run regardless. But again, his immediate eligibility makes me nervous, what with the number of P5s who would be interested and the number of other schools who would love to feature him...

Is Van Vliet an automatic starter? While he certainly can be and we should hope he is, I'm not so sure he is a lock. While having potential, he's never produced before and is largely unproven. I hope he's going to be a big piece for us, but I don't see him being an automatic lock for a starting role until he proves it on the court.

Van Vliet was a part time starter at Wisconsin. Last time I checked they play pretty good ball up there. He's an unknown commodity, but unproven isn't a good word to use. Starter next year? We'll see.

His consistency is TBD, of course, but he has every bit the skill level that Chase and Justin do. No one in the conference has anywhere near his height/length at his skill level and it's going to make him something of a matchup nightmare when you combine him with Nathan and Justin (this is going to be a very big team). He's also going to have the advantage of being 24, nearly 25 by season's end. Not sure how far his defense and rebounding have progressed, but the staff are very high on him. While Tony doesn't sign anything in blood, a P5 transfer is almost never sitting out a year to play one at a MM without being assured a featured role. I'd be very, very surprised if he weren't a day one starter.
