The ones who bother me are the guys who keep lecturing us to be patient--- that Tubby is a wonderful HOF coach...

Coach Smith IS a Hall pf Fame coach

There is no denying that fact.

Is he the right coach for Memphis at this stage in his career? Probably not

However, he is a HOF coach so lets all please accept that.

He won a title with Pitino's players. Take Kentucky out of the picture and all he has been the rest of his career is the ultimate example of consistent mediocrity. Could you look at him without the Kentucky tenure and say he earned HOF? He will likely get if for the length of his career. Not his accomplishments.

there wasn't a superstar among the bunch. Tubby won with a bunch of role players.
Oh how they forget when it doesn't suit their narrative.

Not sure what you mean by superstar, but Pitino’s Players or Recruits were—
Wayne Turner 95-99 NBA undrafted played 9 yrs
Jeff Shepard 93-98 NBA undrafted played 3 years
Jamal Magloire 96-00 NBA 19th pick
Scott Padgett 94-99 NBA 28th pick
Nazr Mohammed 95-98 NBA 29th pick
Michael Bradley 97-99 transferred to Villanova played 1 year..NBA 17th pick (not sure if he was Pitino’s recruit but I think he was)..
Tashawn Prince. 98-02 NBA 23rd pick— Tubby’s Recruit
No Lottery picks but NBA players he inherited..
I wouldn’t think role players would be NBA quality!!

Well that was an interesting segment from Parrish at 5pm. But since no one on this board listens or cares I won't bore anyone with the details.

Yes, they are all to busy thinking that it’s every media members duty to say and report only positive stories. Which is what only Dave Woloshin does, and it’s because he’s employed by the university.

It’s this growing wave of thinking that if someone says anything different than what you personally want to believe then they must either be lying or have an agenda.

Nothing personal man, but there's some irony going on right there. 04-cheers

Nailed it Bench.... and GP always yells down those that disagree with him by calling them “stupid” or an “idiot”.

That format always works.

He's trashing the coach, not the program. If you guys would actually bother to listen he's saying the current state of the program under Tubby is not acceptable.

He's trashed the program plenty though. During Pastner's running into the ditch, he kept telling us that our expectations for the program are not realistic with where we are in today's world. That we should be happy to get to the tournament every once in a while.

My how his perspective has changed.

Umm...because we were actually getting to the tournament.

Nah. I'm talking about the end of Pastner. When it was clearly obvious what direction we were headed. And we were not making the tourney. And the pressure was on from fans. GP held to the Pastner line about making past tourneys, so we should be happy with what we had. That we're not a power program. We should not expect to make the tourney every year - nor should we expect to actually win a game once we got there.

Surely you can admit how his narrative has changed with the change of coaches. And I'm not talking about recruiting or hope being the difference. I'm talking about GP telling Memphis fans to stay in our row.
