RE: Spring Football
Hayden will get a helluva push from Ridder in the fall and I'm rooting for Ridder.

He is frustrating with his lack of protecting the ball, whether it be ball security during contact or some of the throws he makes that go the other way. Yes, he's going to be a senior and you would hope he would have fixed these issues earlier in his career. He is what he is.

He's also our best chance to win games in 2018. Trail is gone and if he was the answer he would have been in the mix last year. The fact he played in only 2 games on a 4-8 team says it all for me. We aren't going to win more than 4 games starting a true freshman. Even a talent like Mike Vick redshirted as a freshman.

Hayden is a serviceable QB and we can win with him. The coaches will have to put him in situations to be successful. Last year he had 4 former walk ons up front protecting him. Not good odds for any QB. We had issues up front. Hayden's WRs didn't really help him either. The offense lacked all around. Not just Hayden, he's not the root of all the issues. I thought he played well at times and I think the best chance for UC to win in 2018 is with Moore under center.

Sobering assessment of last year's offense, but true. I too believe that improvement around Moore will prove him to be at least serviceable. I'll never forget his record setting performance down at Memphis. If his supporting cast is as good as he had that season, I believe he can lead UC to six wins and a bowl to cap his career.

Oh, and I'd think six wins and a bowl could get the locals pretty excited given the current state of sports in this town.

From talking to people at the Spring practice 6-6 and a bowl would be considered a "win" for the program. Everyone knows Tuberville ran this team into the ground.

IMO the fastest way to turn around a weak offense is with a mobile dual threat QB. That is not Moore. I hoped we would get a graduate transfer - but that did not happen. I fear another long year.

The guy that fit that bill has left the country.

Torrance Gibson has had one heck of a story.

He was at one time a 5-star recruit who decided to sign with the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Class of 2015. Then, he was redshirted and eventually moved on to play football at Cincinnati.

Once he realized his time with the Bearcats wouldn’t work out, he tried to play at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Gibson was a QB coming out of high school, but was moved to WR at Ohio State.

Once he went to play at a lower level, he had the opportunity to play at both QB and WR. That’s how gifted Gibson is athletically.

Unfortunately, he disappeared from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for a stretch in October, closing that chapter of his football career. It was noted that Cincinnati tried to make it work with Gibson, but it never did end up working.

Gibson was also suspended by Ohio State for a year due to a violation of the school’s student code of conduct.

Long story short — again — he has had one heck of a story.

Meh, from what I hear Ridder fits that bill. TG did not have it mentally to play QB. He was even moved to WR at his JUCO

If Burrow were to end up transferring and wound up here that would be a game changer.

Right. Why even discuss TG within the framework of a QB convo. He's been repeatedly moved from that position. He's a WR. Period. Last i heard he was off to the CFL. Guess what position? WR.

Not the first, nor the last, kid to fail to 'get it' and go through through the ringer that he will have brought down on himself. Meh.

If he transfers, it's most likely to Nebraska.

Didn't he ball out at their Spring game?

I'd be surprised if he left now.

He has balled out with literally every opportunity he has gotten. I've been saying on here for three years now that he is the best pure QB they have on their roster...he just doesn't fit their system so he isn't given a chance. I have absolutely zero doubt that they kid could have an Alex Smith type season if given the opportunity.

I mean, the kid set the record for completion percentage in a season on over 200 attempts in OHSAA...and is second on that list...and third. He threw 1 INT out of 487 pass attempts his senior year on literally his last throw. He is one of the most accurate passers I've seen in person at that level, he just isn't as gifted athletically as Barrett or Haskins are, so he isn't given the shot. If he is given an opportunity for transfer and ends up at a Nebraska, he would KILL it with Scott Frost running his offense. Like 3500 yards 30 TDs type kill it...no doubt in my mind.

RE: Spring Football
So since he's a graduate transfer there's no issue with him transferring in-conference?
