It is too bad that it took them until the last game of the year. (Actually they had decent attendance for our game and the UC game too). Maybe it took them all season to realize they could get tickets for $5.

Good trolling.

I was shocked (in a good way) when I was able to go online through the UH website and get tickets for $5 for the WSU-UH game. I thought I had stumbled across some special once in a lifetime deal.
Since I bought my tickets early (late November) I started getting emails regularly from the UH Athletic Dept and I was surprised to learn throughout the season that they pretty much had a $5 special for nearly every game, including the last game of the year.
With a team as good as UH is this year, it is pretty shocking that very few people in Houston took advantage of those $5 ticket specials.

I have been reading this board and all of the other schools boards since last spring when the change was announced. There were many arrogant Shocker fans posting things to definitely stir up the pot. Not really something I come to this board for. I enjoy reading the posts where someone has an intelligent comment about some aspect of their schools game, basketball knowledge in general, and good comments without all of the crazy name calling of this player, this coach, the coaches wife, etc. All irrelevant and rather stupid to me.

My take on this season as a whole:

1. Very good basketball conference for most of the teams. The bottom couple leave my head scratching but time will tell how they fare in this league.
2. The coaches in this league are a class act collectively. I get some fan bases are disappointed in their coaches and their teams season. I haven't followed the American enough to know if it is the coach styling that doesn't match the team or coaches that aren't as good as were expected. I will just wait and continue to observe.
3. WSU will continue to be competitive year in and year out under Marshall. We do lose 6 seniors. We have lost 5 seniors twice in recent years and we didn't take a huge drop. We do have a top 25 recruiting class coming in next year and we will remain competitive.
4. No expectation to be the top of the leagure next year from me but will be competitive.
5. This conference change was actually far more satisfying to Shocker fans than most of us could have dreamed. We have been board for several years by the blowout games and wanted competition. That is what we got.
6. Will Marshall stay. We think he will continue to be the coach of the Shockers for the foreseeable future. Something I don't think would be the case had we stayed in the MVC. He does make a top 10 salary at just under $4MM so not too many places he can go and do better. He actually doesn't have the headaches that he would at a big football school and he is pretty much king in this city.
7. Last but certainly not least, I invite all of you to someday visit our fair city and see the many things we actually do have to offer here. I laugh every time I read the posts from everyone east of us that says there is nothing here and it is so obvious they have never been and if they have they sure didn't make it to the right places. Come on out, I will volunteer to be your tour guide. We continue to be the secret in the heartland that most don't know about and I am fine with that.

I posted on facebook we would have an earthquake at 11am. I guess I was early with that post since we had an earthquake at 5:15pm. Can't beat our weather: Today is earthquakes, wind, fire, and thunderstorms expected later. Spring has sprung. Cheers to all! Cant' wait to head to Orlando on Thursday.04-cheers

Usually our earthquakes are caused by fracking. This one might have been caused by a couple hours of shaking thunder coming from NE Wichita02-13-banana
Wow. The aftershock continues, another earthquake hit Wichita at 9:40 pm.

Fun day. The CBS game was nuts. Great environment and fun finish. Also, nice for us to finish up undefeated at home. UConn was shooting lights out. I really felt like we'd "coog it" down the stretch to fall out of the rankings and fall behind Wichita in the standings.

The best part about our basketball revival is I don't have to pay attention to how terrible our baseball team is.

I won't make excuses. We have attendance issues. Hopefully successes fixes it.

Does it matter if UH charges $5 dollars a ticket if they get in the tourney and wins. That is where the money counts.

I just got an email from the UH Athletic Dept. detailing the process to request and get tickets for the UH Ncaa tournament games. If you guys get sent to Wichita, I may be there wearing red and rooting for you guys (BTW- these tickets cost $100 each).

Yeh, Lunardis bracket from yesterday has us in Nashville as a 6 seed. Would be nice if we end up in Dallas.

RE: 3/4 "Judgment Day" AAC Basketball Games
Tickets won't be $5 next year. Two seats will cost you a donation of the following + the price of tickets;

$100,000 for courtside
$50,000 for barcalounger
$30,000 for loge
$20,000 for club
$15,000 for terrace
$5,000 for tier one chair back
$2,000 for tier two chair back
$1,000 for tier three chair back

As of January, terrace was sold out, 8 floor seats remained, barcaloungers/loge were under 20 left for each section, and there were about 370 club seats left.

Hopefully it won't be like TDECU with lots of corporate sales (no shows).

I already sold mine (I had 4) to a KU fan. I sold them for a little more than face value (they weren't very good seats, a couple of rows from the top behind the basket). But if UH came here and I could get tickets through their ticket office (they would be much better), I would gladly buy them and root for UH. I am hoping WSU gets sent some place close, so I could travel to root for the Shockers, but if that does not happen or I can't get tickets to that regional, this would be a good second plan.

Nah.. celebrate in the locker room or in front of your bench.. not in the home teams bench area. Problem solved.
Or just don't take offense to the winner of an emotional game celebrating with each other after the end of shaking hands because they finally got the monkey off their back... But seriously, I've only heard of WSU and KU doing the ceremony after the game.
I wrote out the reasoning earlier.

I've never heard of a team thinking it's ok to celebrate at the other teams bench. So I guess both teams do stuff that isn't heard of.

I just gave you the reasoning why it's not a good idea. Today backed up my reasoning. Most colleges and even high schools don't share the reasoning for doing it after a game.
In 2013, we lost on senior day. It was the first time that a Marshall coached team had ever lost on senior day. Up until then, we did senior day activities before the game. Marshall felt like we lost that day because the seniors were too emotional at the start of the game. So starting in 2014 we started doing it like KU does, we moved it to after the game. This is the first time we have lost since moving it to after the game.
I will also add that 2013 was the same year we went to the final four. So I wouldn't mind history repeating itself.

And I will add it doesn't bother me that Cincy (or any one else) celebrated their conference championship on our floor. I am used to. I am a baseball fan and I have seen opposing teams celebrate and (including the Shockers many times on other teams fields) do dogpiles in the middle of the field after a big win.

UH is too good to worry about attendance smack now. IE, you can troll that all you want but in the end, their team is going to punch you in the mouth sooooo

Depending on the bracket, I honestly believe Wichita State is still an Elite Eight or Final Four team.

Great game Bearcats! WSU just needed one more shot to go down and couldn’t get it. So glad to be playing in the AAC. As another poster said, I’d much rather lose that game to Cinci than drub MOiSt again. Hopefully we’ll get you guys one more time next Sunday if we can both make it to Sunday (Houston and others will have something to say about that). Can’t wait to see all 3 (maybe 4) AAC teams make runs in the Big Dance. As far as the post game stuff people are talking about, I was also there, and didn’t see anything worth arguing about. Two great teams just battled it out and one group of young men were celebrating winning the conference championship. Congrats to them.
