these are the games we have to win if we want to host again

It's a single midweek game. Yeah, I want to win, but I'm not going to lose my **** if we lose. Lately, I've been trying my best to take the midweek games with a grain of salt. I see some people out there saying "Well, I hope Berry has some tricks up his sleeve when we play Alabama, Ole Miss, and South Alabama." Ridiculous. Even if we lose all 4 of those games, it's not the end of the world. LSU throws up clunkers every year in the midweek and is always in the hunt for a title.

We have some fans (NOT ALL) that put way too much of an emphasis on these midweekers. They aren't an accurate gauge of how good a team is. At all. Teams are starting their #4 or #5 guy + a lot of teams won't pitch their best relievers in the midweek. The weekend series are a much, much better indicator of what a team has. But we'd rather stack up with OVC and CAA schools on the weekend, so it's tough to tell what kind of team we have early in the year.

As for the hosting part, it's extremely unlikely that we host a regional this year. Too many issues with the pitching. And even if the pitching is fixed later in the year, the RPI and SOS probably won't be where we need it to be. Hell, I think we might need to win 40 in the regular season just to make the freaking tournament.

LSU also plays a conference slate of Top 25 teams. We don’t have that luxury.

Midweek games are looking more and more important as we keep losing to the Tennessee-Martins and Ohio States of the college baseball world.

They're also our primary source of marquee opponents. The way things are going, we are going to need all the quality wins we can get. 8-3 with two bad losses ain't much to hang our hat on.

It's easy to say "meh" to midweek competition when you know it's bookended by two top-25 series.

Pretty much exactly everything, everyone said in this thread, except Beagle. No offense.

RPI doesn't discriminate be it weekday or weekend.

that's always been my take...

understanding depth on the mound and how it's utilized is all that matters....

they don't ask how.....they only ask how many against whom....

the only reason you pitch your stud on friday is b/c when tourney play begins, he's rested for game 1.....

all the rest is bs....all you're trying to do is get to the finish line with the best result possible to advance...

when the mascot hangs his head, you just don't have an 'out'...........you also have to love corch catch trotting to retrieve......my arse would've been on my back flopping like a fish out of water laughing uncontrollably....

She is still better than Lebron James. I don't know how that guy can be so naturally athletically gifted, yet throw a baseball like a total fruitcake.

dude didn't even really care about baseball that much and was still really good

completely flat-footed on that throw.....no running start, no crow-hop......and an absolute laser. The ball just didn't stop going lol
