The bad news...a win over Akron would have secured a bye into the MAC Quarterfinals. The good news...the Flashes open tournament play on Monday at the MAC Center against the other conference cellar dweller, Northern Illinois.

The Huskies did beat the Golden Flashes by 16 in Dekalb back in January. But, they have not won back to back games since November. Think about that. I guess things could always be worse, eh?

To beat NIU, the Flashes will have to slow down 6'0 sophomore guard Eugene German. The Gary Indiana product averages 20 points per game. Two other guards, junior Levi Bradley and junior Dante Thorpe score in double figures for the Huskies.

The winner advances to Thursday second game (approximately 2:30PM) against Ball State. I'll put my money on Kent State. Final score predictions????

I hope I'm wrong, but I'm going to say that Monday is the opening and closing round for KSU.

I don't know. This week is going to be rough for me personally, away from basketball. Honestly, the only reason I went to some of the weekday games this year was the $6 tickets from targeted ads. The basketball is bad, the arena stinks, then they make us walk across Summit St. and a mud pile to go watch. For that headache I might go catch a movie.
And then I'm worried I might leave more depressed about KSU Basketball than ever.

still bummed about the akron game friday night. the reffing warped the game so badly.. neither team had a chance to win that game fair & square.

the worst part, michael rehgi didn't have a problem with it (i watched the game on espn3.) said it was a physical game & understood why the refs had to call all those fouls. lost a lot of respect for him as a result. showed himself to be a shill for the MAC, no integrity.

that piece of game robbed us of momentum & a bye.. somehow have to forget & move-on.

here's to a fresh start tomorrow night
sooo want to see our guys blow the doors off NIU & head into CLE with some swagger! that being said, a tough, hard-found game that comes down to the final possession is more likely.

We don’t need a thread for the All-MAC teams since our only representative is J. Walker, Third Team.

Obviously, no one on the All-Defensive team and Duling didn’t play enough to make the All -Freshmen team in a year when there were quite a few freshmen playing significant minutes for their teams.

opening tip about 2 hours away.. if we come-out hustling & scrapping from the get go, feel good about our chances. if we play matador defense & fall behind early, out season is over. would luv to see us come out firing on all cylinders.

1. de la rosa keeps his emotions under control & plays a solid game w/out fouling out

2. pippen has another great game

3. ditto for avery

4. jaywalk gets hot from behind the arc.. continues to create shots for others

5. zabo plays with a ton of confidence - hits all his driving runners

6. duling has a solid night. has a few dunks :)

Very sad. We are a shell of what we used to be…

There was just never enough consistency from any individual player. Dare I say...no leaders. That may be because of the young roster. But the ability to identify and challenge leaders falls on...

Mike. This particular KSU Team is pretty lousy. This game is close and all, but it’s against NIU...in the opening round.

Survived!! Now advance once more. Well done boys.

At least I’ll see a Kent State game in Cleveland.
