UT and CMU have seen the future of college hoops
Both Davis and Krzuzkicrushkasusky have figured out the future of college hoops. The difference is UT gets better players than Davis.
Hawkins, like Izzo is stuck in an era that can’t keep up regardless of athleticism. The day of dominate center is declining. Everyone on the floor has to a threat from the arch. Not a threat to shoot, but a threat to make every open look.
Josh Davis should have been one of those guys the last three years. But his biggest attribute isn’t a feature of the offense.
Moore was a big time three point shooter at a big time program.
Wilder is, and has been a very good three point shooter his entire career, but has been asked to run the team, probably to his detriment.
Reggie Jones is a huge talent from another big time program whose being asked to conform rather than tailor an offense to his talent.
There was more talent on this team than our last championship team. But that team fit his style of basketball, this team doesn’t. Something is going to give here. Either some of these guys do a Darius Paul, or there’s a change of philosophy. Sadly, I foresee a couple of departures, likely Johnson and Jones.

Weren't you the same guy calling our offense a gimmick?
I don't think our basketball team is that good, at all. But this post makes no sense given what you have said before.

Yes, he did.
Maybe this is his way of admitting he was wrong?

In Davis’s case it is a gimmick. Unlike UT he never has had the talent to make it work. With the exception of his first year rolling it out it’s been a bunch of 5th and 6th place finishes.

dip has a point.
Izzo is struggling with this a bit too. MSU has trouble defending open-court teams (like U-M) and is not scoring as much as a team with their talent should.

When our team scores it seems like it is always a tough shot...compared to the easy hoops we give up.
The 2017-18 team made basketball look more difficult than any team I can recall.
