RE: Shots fired at Central Michigan
I think it's very sad and tragic. Whether you use 8 or 19 as your base number, it's yet another gun shooting in our nation's schools and another example why our society is too violent.

And is another example of why the national age to buy guns should be raised to 21 - whether it's determined the killer bought the guns himself or not.

Hopefully we can sway the politicial makeup of Congress beginning this year and enact some meaningful change.

How on God's green earth would raising the purchase age have stopped this kid?

IMO, this one could have happened at CMU or at the home of the parents just as easily given who the shooter was and who was shot. It wasn't a case of someone deciding they wanted to go out in a blaze of glory and trying to kill as many people as possible. It was a domestic dispute and the weapon of choice was a hand gun not an "assault weapon".

"Meaningful change"???? - "Change the political makeup of Congress"??

I guess you mean "Use a domestic dispute between a young man and his parents as a reason to elect Democrats".........nothing like not letting a tragedy go to waste.

Yup. I think the gun control debate is one that will energize a lot of young people to go to the ballot box this November and vote Democratic. Same as with other social issues.

I think we will see some change here in Texas for sure. The Governor, Lt. Governor (sadly) and most of the other main state-wide incumbents are probably safe. But I do think Ted Cruz will be in a real battle, and my local rep. (a Rice guy - Pete Olson) is probably one of several Republican House members who will be defeated.

Like too many issues, this comes down to a choice between bad ideas from democrats and no ideas from republicans.

Or bad ideas from Owlnumbers like defacto gun registration.

-It wasn't a school shooting
-One already has to be 21 to buy a handgun
-What meaningful change

This is the problem with the left. Pass more laws problem solved. Just the opposite.

You think young people will vote to raise the age so they lose their rights while older people retain theirs?

No not de facto gun registration. Nothing more, and generally a lot less, than an expansion of the CCL program. That’s what I don’t understand. A lot of people complaining about this already have CCLs. If you do, and if there’s a de facto gun registration, you are already in it.

Fair enough. Propose some meaningful changes.

Has raising the drinking age, or cigarettes, or outlawing weed or a myriad other things been effective?

If this guy wanted a gun, you don’t think he could get one?

What do you mean “whether he bought this gun himself or not”?

If that’s you jump off, you just completely obliterated your entire own point.

What it appears you’re really saying is “We Have To Do Something!!!”, vs any meaningful change.

And do you think that will improve things?

Haha. Have you even looked at dim run states and localities lately?

Or, not even lately, the past 40 yrs? Why would you wish that misery on anyone?

A good video that deals with lack of gun knowledge by those wanting to ban stuff.
