RE: Combine results
I figured he was undersized to play TE at the next level. I think he would be great on special teams though.

I honestly think Phillips started taking plays off around the UB game. Wasn’t finishing tackles, beaten repeatedly.

He couldn't use his hand.

Ankle still bothering him. He'll run a 4.4 at pro day if he recovers.

Shaquem Griffin is laughing at you.

How many of our guys are actually expected to get drafted?

I thought three had a good shot. Chukes, Jarvion, and Darrius. I was surprised to see Ernsberger invited to the combine, to be honest. I loved him as a blocking TE more than a receiver.

Now I only see Chukes as maybe a late round flyer. Unless the pro-day changes things, of course.

Darius is definitely getting drafted in the later rounds 4-7. His career highlight film on kick returns is more than enough for an NFL team to use a pick on him.

RE: Combine results
Okorafor - 3rd round - Somebody will snatch him up because of his size and youth. 6'6" 330. Only 20 years old. His play is inconsistent, I don't think he gives 100% every down, has problems with penalties and lacks athleticism...but someone will take him based on potential.

Phillips - 5th-6th round. He's undersized as a corner, would become a nickel back in the league. I could see a team taking him in the 4th round or so if they want a playmaker at kick/punt returner. His tape speaks for itself there. He's a baller and his tape is almost as impressive as Corey Davis' was, but since he's undersized and only fits a specialty role, a lot of teams will overlook him.

Franklin - 7th round-UDFA - Big, strong runner. Tons of production. Plagued by ankle injuries, also fumbles too frequently. Wouldn't be an every down back.

Ernsberger - 7th round-UDFA - Too small to play TE, so he'd have to fit into a fullback/H-back role. If a team utilizes that position, they'd be hard-pressed to find a better run blocker and might use a pick on him.

RE: Combine results
Chukes as you said will go relatively early as a project pick. Wouldn't be surprised to see Phillips a little earlier than that. Pro day could help. He'll never match up with top WRs and is mediocre in run support but could be dangerous on passing downs in the nickel/dime and obviously can help on ST.

I don't unfortunately see Franklin being quite big and strong enough to be a straight power back in the NFL. Not sure he'll make a roster. Ernsberger will be all about fit. The right team could find a niche for him.

RE: Combine results
any chance Phillips gets picked up as a kick returner and moved back to be a 5th/6th WR in the NFL as a down field threat?

I think Ernsberger would be a perfect fit for the New Orleans Saints in a hybrid FB/TE role.

RE: Combine results
With as much as teams throw in the NFL these days, Phillips has some value as a 4th-6th round nickel pick. If a team doesn't expect him to do more than nickel and some return game stuff, he should work out just fine.

RE: Combine results
Franklin was too heavy at 239. Needs to be more around 230 and run a 4.55 on his pro day to have a shot. He likely is a free agent, and might land a practice squad gig.

Hardly. DP injuried his hand pretty good. What was he going to do, cut it off and play without it? get real

RE: Combine results
Chukes will play guard at the next level, not OT. He got beat around the edge too many times by fast DE's, that's 'death' especially for LT's in the pros. As a guard, he'd be doing more straight up blocking-but it'd take him 2-3 years to develop his strength to be an effective inner lineman.

So 1 of 2 things are happening:
1) 2 years ago guys played way above their talent level and aren’t really NFL caliber (unlikely)
2) They are no longer able to get the most out of themselves (they aren’t as mature as we thought, to be self motivated which also seems crazy with millions of dollars on the line.)

Could be that 2 years ago was a true display of talent against a relatively weak schedule that skewed expectations for some of the Bronco faithful.

Based on the assessments of NFL talent Scouts and GM's it is possible that the only bonafide NFL talent were Davis and Moten.
