This is getting to be old hat. When does football season begin so we can start the "Let's Fire Bobby Wilder" threads? I was thinking...based on the sole criteria that our basketball program should occasionally win a 'big' game and qualify for the NCAA tourney and NIT, then Tom Young was a perfect fit for us!

I wasn’t on the boards then. I was a student back when we made our last two tourney appearances. It was awesome to be there when we beat Notre Dame in the first round, but so rough when we lost to butler on the buzzer beater. Those were good times.

Especially so seeing he's stepped up his recruiting so the future looks promising. If we tank next season, or go another 2 years without an NCAA I'll be on board. I agree with you all that he cant seem to win the "big games", but the only real choke this whole season has been W&M. Even though VCU sucks, records don't matter when we play and it was at their place. Try to enjoy this season, its been a good one overall.

The no show at WKU last week was a choke. I can understand a no show against FAU or UTSA, but not a choke job in the final 2 weeks when you are in contention for a conference title. Really losing both home games against MTSU and WKU was also a choke job. We don't mentally prepare well for big games.

Genuine question. Is it a choke job or is WKU/MTSU just better? Mind you, I don't think they are 20 points better but I think maybe they are playing the best they can with their skillset and then lose to teams that are better? This would explain why they win they games they are supposed to win and lose the games they're not. I really don't know the answer. We definitely need some slashers though because we got eaten up with it against WKU. This helps when the long ball is not dropping, which seemed to be the issue at the beginning. Well, that and a ton of turnovers :-)

No ****. The Chesapeake Capybara must've seen it's shadow today, March 1st, which of course means 52 weeks of "Fire the Coach...ANY COACH" threads.

I agree, why is this a choke job? Those teams are better than us. They are beatable, but just because we didn’t play our best game doesn’t mean we choked. For the record, I think we could beat either team. But it will take our A game.

Not bringing your A game when the conference is on the line is s choke job period.

Actually I think this is to be expected. It's the consequence of winning. People always expect more. It's a good thing.

WKU just lost by 20 at MTSU with the conference on the line. Sometimes good teams don't show up. I'd think consistency is probably the hardest thing for a coach to control.

RE: How many here have written to Broderick or Selig re firing Jones?
I asked a simple question because I was genuinely interested in an answer. 3+ pages later, maybe 2 or 4 actually answered. Not sure why it was so tough to answer. And I happen to agree with Old Dominion. I think you don't have to be a huge donor to have a say and make an impact. I happen to think, and I have no evidence, that the outcry over the stadium just may have something to do with why there's so much "tweaking" going on. But anyway, thanks for (not) playing.

Signed,
Just another old gasbag

RE: How many here have written to Broderick or Selig re firing Jones?
Writing a letter to the AD would be an utter waste of time. "Dear Dr. Selig, Would you please fall on your sword for the following reasons? Respectfully, TheDancinMonarch" Hell, he's a major part of the problem.

Pretty much the same with Broderick. Plus the athletic program is but a small part of his fiefdom. So again a waste of my time.

Now ODAF is another thing. To them I am a known quantity who has been with the program for decades with many thousands of dollars contributed. No letter should be necessary. But from them, the one time I actually communicated in writing to indicate the depths of my thoughts, I did not even receive the courtesy of a response. And why? Because they are satisfied with what they have and losing one cranky old woman is of no concern to them and that's why I'm gone.

I'll always be a Monarch fan but they will have to do with just my positive mental vibes and without my money and ticket purchases.

Of course not. The question was about writing a letter. I did and I detailed the response. That was a few years ago. And now the decision has been taken to abandon the ship before it sinks.
